Amazon MGM acquired creative control over 007

I actually am positively surprised how fast they made this choice and announced it.

And I am convinced it is really BB‘s last condition for her contract to hand it over to Amy Pascal.

Glad to see this confirmed.

Same. Very encouraging. Judging by this rate of pace we’ll be seeing more developments sooner rather than later.

Amazon aren’t sitting around. I wouldn’t be surprised to wake up one day and see the Alfonso Cuarón news confirmed. With a team like this getting assembled I’d be right on board.

Now we just need the confirmation of Adrian Paul as Bond.

Exciting news! It’s nice to see forward momentum again in a series I love.

It will be interesting to see if they keep the “Albert R. Broccoli’s EON Productions Presents.” I assume EON will still get a screen credit…

Their screen credit will be in the form of the movie title “Everything or Nothing”.

Since David Heyman is producing, there is a good chance now that Ralph Fiennes stays on as M. And he should, the writing and bickering with Bond got old too fast.

I don’t want any Craig era cast members returning, and I’m hoping Amazon feel the same way. Fully embrace this as a fresh start across the board.

I was thinking the same thing soon after I heard the news. It seems very possible that that was the case. Of course, it’s also possible that Amazon knows that it can’t screw up Bond 26 or it will face a severe backlash and/or lack of faith and movie attendance for 26 and beyond. As a result, Amazon could have been looking for an experienced producer(s) to help guide them during their early years and Amy Pascal fits the bill who, it turns out, is also the only producer available who has worked on (successful) Bond films before, so it makes a ton of sense to hire her.

This is a great post. I support the Cubby/EON mindset. Unless we have a real stinker (all the Bond actors have all been remarkably good until now) I’m of the opinion casting Bond should be done as minimally as possible. Change is eventually needed, but it’s a special role and I think long tenures enhance that.

If we have short turnarounds and the new films are successful, who really knows how many films an actor can squeeze in. I thought Roger’s run of seven was untouchable, but is that on the table now? Craig could have feasibly equaled or surpassed that given how long he officially held the title.

Wow things really come in threes! Connery 4K Blu-rays, Heyman and Pascal officially took over, and now a new novelization. A nice birthday week for me! Remember, Charlie Higson has a possible Bond announcement at the end of the month. After a rough drought, we are starting to eat again, Bond fans!

A new novelization?

“Novelization” confused me, too. I took that to mean a novelization of a movie in addition to the new novel that was announced :+1:
