NO TIME TO DIE Spoilers (production pictures & videos)

Remember there was talk of Billy Magnussen playing a younger agent, possible CIA? Or the female agent who’s one of the two Bond girls? Perhaps one of these is the ‘successor’ they were referring to and it got lost in translation.

Moved from the News thread (sorry, should have noticed the spoilers, just posted the translation on the quick without proper reading):

The Sassi of Matera in the opening scene of the film Bond 25
14 March, 2019 20:18 | Cinema-Television Evidence

New rumors about the 25th James Bond film production. In anticipation of the press conference scheduled for April 1 with the gala cast at Pinewood Studios in London and the preliminary shooting scheduled for April 5 and 6, director Cary J. Fukunaga, attentive to ecology, has chosen the first electric Aston Martin worth $ 250,000 that will race through the streets of the Sassi di Matera. Aston Martin and James Bond form a combination that for over 50 years has combined cinema and cars. A bond that has withstood the test of time, despite the alternation of different scriptwriters, directors and performers. For this reason, agent 007 will drive an electric Aston Martin in the next film. The model chosen is the Rapide E, which will be the protagonist of the 25th film in the saga inspired by the novels of Ian Fleming. Daniel Craig, who also has a certain passion for Gaydon’s cars.
The decision was taken by the director Cary Fukunaga, who, in agreement with the production and cast, considered the time ripe for such an innovation for a city capital of human ecology, Matera. It remains to be seen what incredible gadgets the new car will be equipped with, which for the first time will not have the roar of the engine typical of the cars driven by James Bond.
Cary Fukunaga, remember him replaces Danny Boyle for differences of opinion on the end not accepted by the actor Daniel Craig of his alter ego Bond. An ending, according to the rumors that come from the original draft of the script, in which would be expected the glamorous wedding of Mister Bond by the sea in the beautiful and wild beach of Marina di Pisticci, Riva dei Ginepri.
Among the cast seems imminent confirmation of Ramy Malek who could be the villain on duty, fresh Oscar winner for the film "Bohemian Rhapsody. The cast is completed by the return of Léa Seydoux, the Bond Girl from the previous chapter, plus Ralph Fiennes and Ben Whishaw. There are also two other mysterious “Bond girls” whose roles, however, are not yet clear: one should help the secret agent, the other should be his “femme fatale” known precisely during a tropical private party on the beach more chic and ecological Jamaican style of the Matera coast.
In addition, the likely new successor of James Bond will be present in the film with a “cutting role” for the passage of witness. Pre-recordings are expected to take place in Matera after the Brown Festival in July while filming in the city of the Sassi will be held from August 17 to September 23, 2019.
One thing is certain: “Bond 25” will be the biggest event of the year in Matera 2019. A James Bond with an ecology licence, which definitively launches the Sassi di Matera, the world capital of cinema, in the world jet set of niche and auteur tourism.

What if by “successor” they mean the agent who has taken over the 007 position?

Bond could have retired at the end of SP, driven off to start a new life with Swann, and now has a reason to return and get his old number back.

Now there would be an interesting story thread.

Of course! It would fit.

But lets wait for the press conference on April Fools Day.

But if that’s true, then here we go again having a character introduced who isn’t what they seem (Naomi Harris/Christoph Waltz). :slightly_frowning_face:

That would fit, but the article says the wedding’s at the end of the film, not the start. That would leave Bond 7 trying to get his number back. I’d find that messy with a new actor. However, if Craig were to do 26, then it works for me (making 26 the YOLT adaptation, which may be why 25 isn’t called Shatterhand). Has Craig said offially that 25s his last, or is it just journalist ps saying it for him?

In that scenario you have to ask what the 25 plot might be, if not YOLT. Perhaps Raimi Malek steals a nuke, has a posh yacht and the femme fatale’s name is a play on Domino!

Nah! I’m sticking with OHMSS’ coda being the PTS and inciting incident of 25

That seems the most likely scenario in my book. I don’t think is long for this world when Bond 25 begins. Though I could see an alternate possibility of her potentially not dying but being placed in a coma or something at the start and her maybe waking up at the end .I wouldn’t like it, but you never know. I’m still hoping for a surprise that Vesper survived the ending of Casino Royale and will make a surprise re-appearance. I think it would work better for Bond 25 than the bland Madeleine anyway.

The way I read it, the article says that the wedding at the end was in the Boyle script. The idea could have been that, instead of just Tracy/Madeleine getting killed off after the wedding, Bond gets killed, too (car bomb, for example). And as Bond certainly has finally retired before the wedding, the new 007 is a wedding guest.

In other words, it would have confirmed the codename theory
Hope that it’s gone from the new script.

Me too.

Or maybe it was the old ’faked death so they can retire’ trope. There’s and assassin’s shot, or a big k’boom and the audience think, “oh my, they’ve killed Bond!” Cut to him and Swann knocking back a martini at Goldeneye under new names; perhaps mr and mrs Fleming!

Me too, absolutely. It would be awful. Same with Bond dying.

god i hate that codename garbage

For me, it will be the destruction of the series if they go that way. And that destruction will be compounded if they show us images of Craig’s predecessors as a way to showcase the long lineage of great agents who’ve held the James Bond moniker. I doubt they will go that way, but if general audiences embrace the theory enough it may compel them to do so.

I very much doubt general audiences engage themselves with theories why or how Bond keeps in his fighting prime for decades. This is almost exclusively a field for geeks and die hard fans.

In terms of the studios the prospect of poor ‘focus group decisions’ are ever present. Thankfully BB seems a wilful character (e.g. i bet the suits were imploring her not to hire Craig)

I’ve actually had the idea thrown at me by a few casual Bond watchers over the years. When they hear I’m a fan, they laugh at the notion that Bond never ages, and then lob out the thought that maybe it’s just a codename shared by successive agents. I’ve heard it less since DC became Bond, thanks to the reboot.

Blofeld, Felix and the KGB have been very understanding if it was…

Blofeld and Felix are all codenames too, of course.

And throw Moneypenny in there as well.
