Bond Replacement Therapy

I agree with most, apart from Brosnan finally getting Felix. Most of the power in the Felix appearance in NTTD comes from you knowing these two together and the genuine friendship the actors actually have; it was a perfect combination between the actors with an actual friendship and the two playing these characters across 3 films, 5 if you count Eon keeping the relationship between the two a still spinning plate in Mendes two (Leiter was in early versions of both according to Wright, and you can still see where he’d fit in both)

Interesting…
For me, Spectre and NTTD would have to be the same actor.

Casino Royale - Pierce Brosnan, I think he could’ve done a special job of it in his 30s. He would’ve sold the love story well.

QOS - Lazenby, action, propulsive movement, very little dialogue and snappy editing, play to his strengths as Bond.

Skyfall - Dalton agreed. Who but he would be more perfect for a movie where the bond “girl” is M?

Spectre - Connery all day long, see DAF for reference. Action, horror, great moments of comedy, aside from Craig , Connery had the swagger to pull it all together.

NTTD - Connery again, he would handle the anger and bitterness of suspected betrayal excellently, his innate cheeky suavity perfect for Cuba. Not to mention the acting dexterity required for the last act ( no spoilers )

Sadly no Sir Roger, just couldn’t see him in any of the movies.

Here’s my selections with each 007 taking another’s film:

  1. ON HER MAJESTY’S SECRET SERVICE – Timothy Dalton
Dalton gets to flex his dramatic chops in one of Ian Fleming’s best stories, show off his fighting skills, and prove why he’s the Serious (and Romantic) Bond.

  2. DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER – Roger Moore
The first comedy-heavy 007 film gets the Humorous Bond to star in this tale. DAF wasn’t written for Moore, but it may as well have been. Another fun romp guaranteed.

  3. FOR YOUR EYES ONLY – Sean Connery
Connery often starred in down-to-earth spy thrillers and it doesn’t get more down-to-earth in post-Connery films than in FYEO. Plus we have the Maschismo Bond on skis!

  4. THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS – Pierce Brosnan
We almost got Brosnan in TLD back in 1987, so this time we do. The Hybrid Bond shows that he has what it takes to carry on from Moore in a Cold War world.

  5. THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH – Daniel Craig
Craig gets another dramatic role to play as he falls for the female villain Elektra. Plus, the Rebellious Bond gets to run afoul of Judi Dench’s M again.

  6. QUANTUM OF SOLACE – George Lazenby
I concur with St.bernard’s take on this choice. The Vulnerable Bond goes out to avenge his loved one on those who wronged her–something we didn’t get in DAF.

In which case bring back David Hedison.
