So, getting to the business end of this year’s villain Deathmatch tournament and the Quarter-Finals throw up (as t’were) some familiar faces.
Having waited on a shoot-out between the Drs No and Kananga, it’s the half-German, half-Chinese, all-loony who scrapes his way out of the boiling abyss and into the next round of matches and Kananga fails to reach the stage he did last year. He did always have an inflated etc etc… Did you know that San Monique is the patron saint of disappointing children? Whether that’s the patron saint of one’s children being disappointing or the patron saint of disappointing one’s children - either way seems to fit m’lifestyle choices. Hey ho.
So, onwards… can newcomers to this elevated stage of the competition - Scaramanga, Sanchez and Dr No - make an impact? Biggest match of the round may be the replay of last year’s final - OHMSS Blofeld v SIlva. Will the man sort-of responsible for Bond’s wife’s death once again see off the man sort-of responsible for Bond’s mum’s death (or whatever all that daftitude was about)? Or will revenge be a dish best served with 50 year-old Macallan? And a rat.
