Fantastic! Watching the show currently, only one more episode to go - and I love the mix of spy drama and black comedy. Season 2 has already been shot, as I understand a recent Oldman comment. So, hopefully, not a long wait.

Five episodes have been released and I’m so happy to say, I am loving Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. _This_ is what I want my Trek in 2022 to be. So far the episodes have been exciting, thoughtful, emotional, adventurous and overwhelmingly _fun_. Episode 5 is probably the most fun episode of live action Trek in over 20 years, just a joy to watch.
The Enterprise (what a stunning retro-futuristic design!) feels like a character, and the crew is fantastic - the casting has been outstanding, the characters are interesting and likable, and they are given plenty of time in the spotlight, so after just five episodes we already feel like we know them.
I hope I’m not jumping the gun, but these episodes have been outstanding and if they manage to keep it up this could be a really special series.

Kenobi is turning out to be ok. So far it’s been a decent watch. Reeva…like Michael Burnham is an abrasive character but overall, I’m getting vibes of The Fugitive. To be honest I’m reserving judgment until the ending of the series to see whether the spoilers are actually true. (Some have been)
What I’m not understanding is…well, the ‘current day’ issues that haven’t been substantiated toward Moses Ingram. People seem to get all up in arms over rumours that haven’t been proven or debunked either way…
I wish the series awas a bit longer. Six episodes seem too short.
Oh yeah, The Boys are off to a bang… 😉

**Slow Horses**
I loved it. The last episode, often a problem for shows these days, tied up all loose ends with the same precision, suspense and sarcasm as the whole show did so brilliantly. One of my new favorite shows.
**Mare of Easttown**
I hesitated to watch this, with all the rave reviews, looking like Kate Winslet got the usual down and dirty vanity piece to be congratulated for.
Was I wrong. It is one of those truly great crime shows because it is not just about a precedural. It is how death in its many shapes and forms, meaning also the death of hopes and dreams, afflicts a community. And in contrast to many crime shows which love their cruelty and leave no room for light, this one is ultimately about healing.
And Winslet is splendid, like the rest of the whole brilliant cast.
**True Detective 3**
I loved season 1 and was lukewarm on season 2, leading me to wait with season 3. I also am not the biggest fan of crime shows, so I would have probably passed on this. But after „Mare of Easttown“ I wanted to try season 3 - and again I was hooked from episode 1 onwards. Mahershala Ali and Stephen Dorff are absolutely terrific, the story is captivating, and the greatest aspect for me was the focus on how one unsolved case influences the lives of the detectives over decades, leading them into decisions which threaten to ruin their grip on their life. And yet, it leaves the chance of redemption at the end.
Wonderful. So much so that I decided to rewatch the previous two seasons, starting with season 2 which still is ridiculed and maligned, even excused for by the HBO executive.
And after watching the first two episodes I must say: WHY? It is absolutely terrific, tense, interesting, darkly funny and touching. It is different from season 1 in its whole conception, and it seems that this led to disappointment at the time. Also, the critical raves for season 1 apparently caused backlash, making critics feel they had to put the creators into their places.
But unless I don’t like the next episodes the badmouthing of season 2 seems unfair and unjustified.

Yes, it’s a great show. Very realistic with each season following one or two cases through to the end, and all based on Michael Connelly’s Harry Bosch novels. I love virtually all the characters from J. Edgar and Billets to Money Chandler and Irving and especially Crate and Barrel, and of course Titus Welliver’s Bosch. My favorite season is season 2, but they’re all good. There are seven total seasons on Amazon Prime. But Freevee has just started the sequel series Bosch: Legacy. I have not seen any of that one yet though, but I’m looking forward to it. You cannot go wrong with more Bosch. Great, great show. 👍

And going back to my „True Detective“-rewatch:
I enjoyed season 2 a lot. Expanding the perspective to three detectives and a casino owner trying to go legit but failing to do so because the legit ruling class is even more corrupt was a daring move. It disappointed those who thought the duo of season one and its decades spanning search for a killer in the swamps of moral hypocrisy and Southern gothic gruesomeness would be replicated here.
I do think that season 2 was not as arresting visually as season 1, and many elements of the plot were familiar and therefore not surprising. But Colin Farrell as a traumatized and therefore traumatizing cop was magnificent, Rachel McAdams gave a surprisingly tough and emotional wounded top notch performance, Taylor Kitsch was excellent in conveying buried anger and despair, and Vince Vaughn was perfectly channeling waning authority, menace and faux gentleman hubris. The shootout in the middle of the season was majorly effective and emotionally bruising, and the wrap up weighted with realistic consequences.
Sure, I prefer season 1 with McConnaghey and Harrelson, a perfect combination, giving audiences what they expect and what they did not expect. The metaphysical aspect of the story is still interesting and haunting. Is the light winning? Right now it seems overly optimistic, Rust…

While nothing’s been confirmed the most popular theory is that he’s playing the Celestial Toymaker, a villain who hadn’t been seen since the First Doctor’s tenure. Even though it’s just a theory I’d love for them to do such a deep cut for the anniversary.
