I imagine Covid decreased the amount of work available so when a series you constructed asks if you’d like to take control again for a bit it was perfect timing…

… and I suspect that the show is at a critical point, creatively exhausted, with the BBC entrusting their franchise only to someone they have good experiences with.

From the BBC’s point of view I’m sure it was a no-brainer. The show only came back because RTD said he’d only create a drama (Casanova starring, appropriately, David Tennant) for them if he could then bring back Doctor Who.

Didn’t see that coming! I’m very much in 2 minds about this. I thought Davies did an excellent job of bringing the series back in 2005 with his creative instincts, from making the companions more rounded characters to balancing classic and new monsters, were spot on. However as time went on the cracks started to show. The biggest issue for me was that he could never quite let go of Rose, she was constantly referenced after her exit and then started popping up again along with her extended family.
If Davis can give us the same fresh start we had in 2005 then it could work well, especially since he has grown a lot as an artist since then. But right now I my biggest concern is that we could get a re-visitation of the old RTD era. As always I want things to move forward and not back.

Anyone else watching the series “Jaguar” on Netflix? I think members of our group would find it rewarding. It’s especially fun being set in 1962 Spain for that Euro-Spy flavor. It’s a much more serious-minded take on a similar subject matter than the Amazon series “Hunters” was. It’s also much more of a spy series.

Well, it’s Superman…
It’s good. There’s an episode about mid-way that gives a crash course in this Superman that you’ll enjoy. As a whole, it’s a series that is very loving of the character in all his forms.

Comic book series being made into a Netflix series - most of the comments are adamant that it has to have Brosnan as the lead. In fairness, the drawing on that cover does look like it was based on this…

I really enjoyed a couple of foreign language thriller series.
The first was The Chalet (French) - 6 episodes, and the second was Into The Night (Belgian) with 2 series. Both highly recommended.
