Just seen that Thunderball Expanded Score has started shipping yesterday Saturday 13th Sept , very excited by this release & hopefully more to come soon especially hope for A view To A Kill & Goldeneye before the end of the year

I’m hoping for A View to a Kill next and can see that being very popular. I like modern Bond movies, and think some of them are really great and up there with the best. But nothing will beat the Connery and Moore eras for me. I’d love to see all of that timeline expanded as much as possible.

Hi Neil.
I have a question. I just realized that the newly remastered and expanded The Man With The Golden Gun CD release does not include the cues for Saida’s belly dancing music nor the cabaret music heard when James Bond is backstage before he goes into Saida’s dressing room.
Is that because John Barry didn’t write those cues? Or you couldn’t find those cues? Or there just wasn’t enough space on the CDs for them?
If you would be so kind to let me know which, I’d appreciate it. I’m especially interested in knowing if Barry wrote those cues. I know he was on a very tight schedule and was pressed for time working on that film.

My recollection is those were recorded on set during the production.

Been listening to LaLaLand’s LALD score. Most of the music was already present on the original release but the new edition is absolutely worth the purchase. It’s never sounded clearer, the sequencing is correct and it’s great to have those little extra flourishes in some of the cues.
I think it’s safe to say George Martin created the most fun Bond soundtrack. The melody of McCartney’s song provides what could be the strongest instrumental besides the OHMSS main theme. I love Fillet of Soul - New Orleans/Live and Let Die/Fillet of Soul - Harlem. The funky opening, then the title song being sung so well by B.J. Arnau. Such a wonderfully meta moment in the film when it’s performed in front of Bond at the club.

Do you mean the 2003 reissue? The original 1973 album, which we include on disc 2, runs 32 minutes while the full score runs 55 minutes.

Yeah, original wasn’t the right word but that’s the version I’ve always listened to. I think that came in at around 53 minutes? Again, fantastic job on the 2023 version. I got notification Thunderball has shipped and I can’t wait to hear that one.

Yep, LALD is total fun, for me the best non-Barry Bond score.

I live in the UK & have Just received Saturday 20th September , Thunderball remastered & Expanded CD, from 007 Store in the post today ordered on 1st September 8.00am GMT UK , so again slightly quicker if you live in the UK to order from 007 Store.
This is one of my favourite John Barry James Bond scores to have this fully expanded is unbelievable, the sound quality is amazing compared to the previous release & it sounds like a completely new listen, also to have all the extra cues & in Film chronological order & the original soundtrack is fantastic.

I listened this weekend to the score of “Game of Death”, the awfull Bruce Lee movie (with only ten minutes of the real Lee) which was released a couple of years after his death, but with a majestic score of Barry. On this cd also are, as a kind of bonus, 6 tracks from the erotic movie “Night Games” and the music is very beautiful and sounds even a couple of times like the “Moonraker” score, this is realy striking.

My copy arrived yesterday and I’ve been going over it since then. I treasure this release. We are so lucky to have a vintage 1960s Barry soundtrack expanded to this degree. This is how Thunderball is meant to be listened to, rather than those long suites. The usual tracks are still great, and I particularly enjoy ‘Double Derval’, the opening segment of ‘Lights Out For Paula’ and ‘Bathing Beauty’.

Always LaLaLand. The expanded CD confirms Thunderball is my third favourite score in the series. The whole thing drips with Bond DNA.
