In Praise of EON

One thing though: just by reading that a script is credited to a writer we never can be sure what the writer has written actually made it into the film.

It could have been totally rewritten by the director or uncredited writers, improvised by the actors on set, re-edited later on in a manner which was not intended by the writer.

And especially on a Bond film it is well known that a script is rewritten and polished by a myriad of people.

The only thing the credits do tell on a Bond film is that P&W are enjoying a good and loyal relationship with EON.

Which does not prevent them from being dropped if a director wants his own people to write a draft.

That’s fair. I think it’s mostly believed that the brother angle came from Sam Mendes. But honestly, there’s no way to know. I think it was reported that Spectre was not P&W’s story, but there were brought in when John Logan was having trouble.

I guess Brofeld came from both Sam Mendes and in particular Michael G Wilson. Sometimes even I have to remember that filmmaking is a collaborative process. A lot of people didn’t see eye to eye on SP and it shows. At least no one has pointed fingers at another person because of the difficulty behind the scenes. Christoph Waltz shouldn’t blame himself for his performance. We were lucky to have him. It was the writing and handling of his character that hurt his performance.

Again: No.

Let‘s not guess. We don’t know. We only know: it is in the film, so everyone involved above the line thought it is a good idea.

It was in the Some Kind of Hero reference book.

Doesn’t mean anything.

Ironically, I wouldn’t mind Felicity Jones or Daisy Ridley joining Bond in some way.

Felicity Jones would be worth it just for who plays her dad in Rogue one. Daisy Ridley would’ve for having done a Jedi mind trick on James Bond.

Go Mrs. Bond, protecting those in need.

Depressingly, Lea Seydoux didn’t even place, but one time henchman Charles Dance did.
