Movies: Presumably 2024, maybe Beyond

I feel I won’t like this with a mighty heartbeat.

It’s a cartoon, anything’s possible. Bart Simpson is a 10-year-old boy voiced by a 65-year-old woman.

The real question is do I want to watch a 3-hour cartoon from a director with no sense of humor?

That’s the thing: why going to the trouble of using real actors, in real water, if the end result just looks like a CGI animated movie?

As for Weaver: judging from this trailer I don’t know why she was cast (apart from the name recognition) in this role. Voicing Bart Simpson has, well, that distinctive voice.

The fan theory is: we know the teenager she is playing is Jake’s adopted daughter. In the first film Jake brought Weaver to that giant tree thingie to transfer her conscious to. So the teenager might be an Avatar created from Weaver’s conscious…

Also, I have absolutely no idea what I just said.

It might very well be exactly that.

But the mental gymnastics Cameron used to put Weaver into this movie (and underwater) won‘t be justified when her acting is not needed for this character.

Granted, I have not seen the movie and seem to carry some deep seated anger towards these movies.

Which is sad in many other ways.

As I suggested to someone else: I should learn to enjoy my disappointment.

This is what Scorsese talked about recently: box office decides what is a great director or a good movie?

No way. The Russo brothers have not yet convinced me that they are more than technically capable to helm Marvel product.

And still they get the power to greenlight…

Martin Campbell reuniting with Eva Green on an action film. FROM THE DIRECTOR OF CASINO ROYALE will be plastered all over the marketing of this.

I must confess: apart from his two Bond films I can’t think of any Campbell film I really like.

I liked The Mask Of Zorro.

I can’t remember his other films. Often seconds after I saw them.

Is it un-Buddhist to hope for modest box office returns, if it can result in the greater good of only one more Avatar movie?

Since it is doubtful it will hurt Cameron financially… I don’t think so.

His ego will, of course, take a dive (bada-boom!).

Note: NOT a remake a “Bullitt.”

Not a remake - I‘m relieved.

Most likely attached to Avatar 2 but I would love it if Disney surprises us and drops it the day after Thanksgiving like they did with The Force Awakens teaser trailer.
