Movies: Presumably 2024, maybe Beyond

Happy Superman birthday to everyone!

On this day, 85 years ago, Superman first appeared in Action Comics #1!

And some more great news!

Some of my hopes for the movie:

A lighter tone, but not MCU goofy.
Moving ahead from Richard Donner and Christopher Reeve a bit, but not completely ignoring their movie(s). Zack Snyder should NOT be involved.
More than one villain that we’ve never had cinematically before: Brainiac, Parasite, Toyman seem like characters James Gunn would use in his style.
No Lex or Zod or Batman! They’ve been done way too much.
Don’t kill off characters just for shock value.
Supergirl and the supporting cast get time to shine.
Use graphic novels as a influence. Geoff Johns and Mark Waid would great starting points.

Remember that CinemaCon is this week. Let’s hope for some great announcements!

Should be a good week for trailers.

Interesting that it’s a Branagh film not being scored by Patrick Doyle…

I was hoping for more Doyle, but this film seems to be conceived as very different from the previous ones. And Branagh apparently wanted to try someone else.

Edit: I understand Doyle was not available this time because he was writing music for the coronation.

As if that were more important…

One nice thing about Death on the Nile being delayed so many times is that we get the third film a year and half later. It’s almost like Bond in the 60s.

At least it’s not completely computer animated.

Out of proportion violent response with death threats vs praise…

i wonder why acclaimed directors are avoiding Star Wars.

But Hoult, that subline should say, not for Superman but for Lex Luthor.

For the most part, the motorized vehicle chases in Indy never disappoint. I’ve liked them all, they’re always entertaining. George Lucas has mentioned those are his favorite scenes in the movies.

The negative thing that I can joke about is Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s birthmark is really distracting.
