No studio as of yet…I anticipate a streamer.
Why?
Are they no longer selling blu rays of or streaming SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN and ON THE TOWN?
Love one of the comments in the section- “what next Scarlett Johansson as Esther Williams”
Exactly my thoughts when I read this.
But it’s good for something: just been thinking about a late movie for tonight. “An American in Paris” might be a bit much for late Saturday, but I’ve got “That’s Entertainment” at hand. Overture is running while I’m writing…
My favorite Kelly movie is “The Three Musketeers” and also starring Van Heflin as Porthos, Lana Turner as Milady the Winter, Vincent Price as The Cardinal and Angela Lansbury as the Queen. A really great adaptation of Alexandre Dumas’ famous book.
Because biopic is Oscar fodder but not necessarily profitable.
A streamer cough Netflix cough can find it and give a limited release making it profitable for the production company and put it in a place for awards that would give Netflix more credibility and thus (they hope) more subscribers
Does it matter? I can happily watch The Lord of The Rings extended trilogy without complaint, or even exhaustion, but Zack Snyder’s ™ Justice League makes me feel time passing…to the sight of a hot dog being fondled in slow motion…
The buzz just keeps building and building for that film.
Or wait, maybe that’s the tinnitus. Either way, I can’t wait for it be over.
I know that there’s been a wide variety of opinions on the film, but I thought that this interview with Jason Reitman, where he talks about how they created THAT moment in the film, was really interesting.
I’ve seen people saying “not another floating heads poster” - but I like this one. Feels inspired by the 1990s Batman posters, specifically Batman Returns, Batman Forever and Batman and Robin. Like the Bond posters of old, those gave a wider representation of the film in question and had personality.
Looks like an old C-movie cover in a video shop, and not a good one…
