Movies: Presumably 2025, maybe Beyond

Definitely very excited for this. Natalie Portman is one of my favorite actresses and I think she’ll do great as Thor. Additionally, it could be entertaining to see her Jane Foster interact with fat Hemsworth Thor.

Portman has me interested in the project. Loved seeing her holding the hammer.

Glad we’re getting a fourth Thor so soon. Interesting that they wooed Natalie Portman back as she seemed done with the MCU (Annihilation flopping may have had her eager to rejoin a blockbuster powerhouse.) A little surprised Phase 4 didn’t wrap up with an Avengers team-up, but they still have three release dates in 2022 to attach titles to. Don’t expect a follow up to Endgame in 2020 though as Black Widow is a prequel circa 2016 and Eternals is allegedly set thousands of years in the past, and would be part of their Cosmic side anyway. Falcon and Winter Soldier will probably be the first to address it. Glad to see Shang-Chi will address the Ten Rings and perhaps the real Mandarin after Iron Man 3’s controversial choice. I’m looking foward to Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness (with Scarlet Witch) the most.

Phase 5’s Guardians 3 and Captain Marvel 2 probably won’t address post-endgame either (CM2 could be another prequel, and GotG3 set in the Cosmic side.) Wandavision is rumored to be set in the 50s, and Loki could be anywhere or when. In other words, it may not be until 2023 that the MCU movies address their in-universe 2023. Might even see F4 and X-Men before Black Panther 2. Would love it to wrap-up with an A-Force movie.

Bet ya all this happens before Bond 26.

I’m thinking Black Panther 2 will drop before at least the MCU X-men, probably around the same time as MCU Fantastic Four.

Does anyone actually believe it’s an ending?

On a side note - that, as an opening description, is why i don’t think EON have ruled out a 6th Craig Bond film, even if Craig and the rest of the world seemingly have. The film/tv industry has made it clear - When it’s the end, PLUG THE S*** out of it from day 1.

…but Michael Myers is definitely back in 3 years.

ZOMBIELAND: DOUBLE TAP Trailer and Poster

Excited for this one.

The only thing that actually makes me hope that these two films could be interesting is Jamie Lee Curtis and Judy Greer returning.

Getting her back was the best decision the series made. The woman is never less than brilliant, even if the film itself doesn’t earn it.

Speaking of never-ending franchises.

I might be willing to sit down and watch that kind of thing if it were a feature film, but I’m not sure about a TV series. It would definitely have to be a limited series.

I’m willing to give ROCKY 7, or whatever this would be called, a chance. ROCKY BALBOA was much better than sixth film coming 16 years after the previous one had any right to be , so I’ll give Stallone the benefit of the doubt going into it.

I thought Stallone was retiring from the character with Creed II.

Let’s face it - a prequel series without Stallone (and that is just not possible) and with a Rocky who is never in the boxing ring will not work. Another Rocky movie with Rocky taking on the refugee could be interesting - but somehow it seems to be just the same dynamic as CREED had: Rocky as mentor for a young fighter.

Since these news basically came from a long recent Variety interview which centered on Stallone complaining that he does not own the rights to Rocky it seems more likely that he wants to drum up attention to strengthen his bargaining position.

In any event, a movie series which centers so strongly on a main actor actually playing that main character (see Indiana Jones) will hardly work with someone else or with a concept that deviates so much from the basic formula.

Looking forward to seeing this trailer, but unfortunately I can’t view this by my area (U.K.). Imagine it’ll be viewable soon enough. Thanks anyway

Hey, thanks! Really appreciated!

Looks like there’s plenty of Bourne kinetics to keep us happy. Globe trotting too! Just hope the lead hasn’t been cast for his pin-up appeal alone, but it’s impossible to tell from that, so it gets the benefit of the doubt so far.

The number of movies I am looking forward to has shrunken considerably in the last years. This year I have not been to a movie theater at all. I want to see IT,part 2, Doctor Sleep and SWIX / but anything else that interests me will be on streaming platforms. Am I that old now?

Cinema is just no longer such a special event it used to be. Screens and sound systems at home replicate the theatre experience pretty closely, without the added effort to leave your house.

Also, there is nothing really to miss any more; if you don’t see a film this week you can always see it next. Or next month or next year. There is seldom an urgency to see a particular film as soon as possible.

Cinema is still something extraordinary, but its allure and appeal are constantly under pressure, are constantly re-evaluated against the next big thing. When there’s a new sensation every other week it’s hard to see why one absolutely ‘must’ see this or that now.
