Movies: Presumably 2025, maybe Beyond

So, it‘s based on DUNE MESSIAH but it is called „Dune: Part Three“, only it is not the last part of a trilogy.

C‘mon.

I saw Superman last night. It’s excellent. One of the best depictions of Lex in any media, showing why he’s such an iconic comic book arch nemesis alongside The Joker. Really great to see a strong villain get plenty of screen time and reasons to absolutely hate them. Importantly, the movie gets across what Superman is all about and Corenswet is perfect for the role. Mr Terrific is also one cool dude. It’s easily the best film after the 1978 original. Go see it!

Seeing it with husband and friends next Tuesday after work.

Yes, half-priced Tuesdays at AMC is getting my money.

The following Wednesday after work will be EDDINGTON with husband and friends–also half-price.

Back from Superman. I liked it! Some good action, great chemistry between Clark and Lois, and an awesome turn by Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. I did think a couple of the set pieces went on a little too long, and the weirdness factor of some stretches didn’t sit well with me, but the heart was there when it needed to be, and that made up for the shortcomings. I wish another one of these was coming soon.

Obviously no cinema director working with one of the streamers will be happy with the limited theatrical releases - then again, with Netflix it’s unlikely to run into a major box office bomb. If Netflix was interested to go on with Benoit Blanc Johnson could do worse than to commit to some more. One might even think of iterations closer to a treasure hunt or a thriller.

Was pleasantly surprised to see this article just now. I absolutely love The Mothman Prophecies that was released back in 2002 (it’s one of my favorite horror films) and the book that it’s loosely based on has a lot of things that the film either significantly alters or leaves out entirely that would be absolutely chilling to see on screen. The idea of doing this with practical effects is also something that is exciting as well. Looking forward to hearing and seeing more about this one.

A bit early for this, perhaps?

Well, apparently it wasn’t too early for it after all.

Nolan has a fanbase. Good for him.

I dont know, I think buying your tickets and waiting a full year to use them kind of makes sense for something called “The Odyssey.”

Just when you thought uncrossing legs and filming in between was in poor taste…

This one makes no sense, even for a film industry that would trip over themselves to get at an IP that wasn’t nailed to the floor. Basic Instinct, which is a good thriller, is really only remembered to the extent that it is, as far as I can tell, for three things: Michael Douglas, Sharon Stone, and the aforementioned and infamous moment in the film. I’m sure they’ll leave the latter in, but without Douglas and Stone (and Verhoeven’s direction), you’re not left with much.

And the IP name doesn’t really have much of a draw to it. Basic Instinct 2 was one of the biggest box office bombs of all time.

If what they did in the original was shocking in the early 90‘s what will they have to do now?

Another reason why this “reboot” makes absolutely no sense.

It will make sense to Amazon…

Whatever.

Doesn’t increase my hopes for B26, as this once again shows that they’re willing to come up with almost any silly idea.
