Movies: Presumably 2025, maybe Beyond

2021 films like to reference some one…

It’s likely going to be, to quote Nathan Drake, ‘crap crap crap!’, but I’ll still see it anyway. Though, did they really need to cast Mark Wahlberg?

Almost definitely going to go the way of every other attempt to make a video game into a movie - straight to the bargain bin, but it might surprise me and be good.

Michael Keaton would’ve been a better Sully.

Definitely would’ve made a better Sully. Here’s who I think could’ve made a great Sully 10-ish years ago:

Wow. I expect the next Bond actor to be considerably younger…

This is the sentence that struck me:

“Spider-Man: No Way Home” had a particularly huge Friday because die-hard Marvel fans wanted to be among the first to watch the movie and avoid spoilers online.

The actual watching of the film is just part of an online ecosystem of talk, critique, complaint, etc. The actual work of art has been displaced from its historic place at the center of the experience.

Wow. I am a dinosaur.

Been saying it for a while now, but whenever the search for Craig’s successor begins in earnest, we should turn our attention to actors in their late 20s and early 30s. Someone in their late 30s to early 40s will most likely be too old for EON, unless they can really start to crank these films out with a bit more regularity.

Amazon are definitely going to keep declaring bankruptcy at the rate MGM did.

I miss having a signature like the old forums. I’m getting sick of having to point out the actual reason for the slower rate.

That’s absolutely fine, as long as you’re willing to accept some chipping away at the backstory of the character, because someone that age can’t be a retired Naval Commander…

The days of them churning these out every 2 years is long gone, I would suspect. The films are just too much of a massive undertaking anymore for that to happen. Three years, I would guess, is the new minimum amount of time we’ll have to wait between films. Add to that the fact that Barbara Broccoli has seemed to want to venture outside of Bond and work on other projects, it’s not unfathomable to think that there could be gaps between the films. Not saying that it’s going to be continuous and massive delays like Craig’s tenure suffered, but I don’t think we’re going to be seeing a return to the rate they used to crank these things out at.

They did keep the 2 years when they could.

We’re averaging 3.5 in the 2000s, only one gap just 2 years. The mode is 4.

Keaton’s Batman playing opposite J.K. Simmons’s Commissioner Gordon? First time in history that the actor playing Batman is older than the one playing Gordon. Maybe he’ll just be in flashbacks but it still feels weird.
Speaking of weird, 2022 will now officially double the number of films in which Keaton has played Batman.

People keep saying about the age of Keaton and Simmons…do these same people think Sean Connery had Harrison Ford when he was 9?

That gif is fantastic!

Bring it on, I say. It’s great to have some kind of alternative to whatever it is that they’re doing with the “official” Batman films now.

Better trailer (and the CGI on the cargo drop bit does seem to be improving) but I’m still suspicious at best on this film despite (or because of) my love for the games.

Antonio Banderas seems magnificent though.
