The Last Jedi was incredible!
As were Looper, The Brothers Bloom and Brick - itās why Iām so excited that a slight delay on Bond 25 has given us Knives Out!
Most certainly agreed!!!
Great new interview with Cary.
Very good interview, Fukunaga definitely talks a good game, as it where.
Small aside - Did he just confirm that, IF he uses the character, Waltz would be playing Blofeld?
I hope Waltz and Blofeld come back. They deserve better material.
I donāt read it that way.
What I get from this is that currently - mind you, currently - the story isnāt about Blofeld. Which would mean that neither of the previous efforts made use of him, otherwise it would be clear that Blofeld is a central part. āIf thereās roomā¦ā probably means itās up to Eon house to decide if they want Waltz-Blofeld, another actor or rather no Blofeld at all.
Provided Fukunaga has been telling the truth.
As for Waltz, heās said he wasnāt happy with his part in SPECTRE. I suspect heād only return for a cameo if he was sold on the part. And he might be busy anyway.
Finally some news from a true source. To me, the most telling info is that the character has been on an arc since Casino Royale, and will continue with some change.
I agree, Itās why I bolded the If. Just thought it was interesting that he wouldnāt recast should he decide to add the character.
As for Waltz, whilst I donāt see him returning, his issues with SPECTRE were all to do with not liking his own performance due to the rushed schedule, and saying heād do it differently if he was ever asked to return.
Great interview that says plenty about Cary, but nothing about the particular bond movie heās making, nor the cast. And why should it?
Like he said, the scriptās still being written and nailing the narrative is the first order of work. Glad to here it.
Good to know heās a Duran Duran fan
He did confirm one cast memberā¦
ā¦Daniel Craig is in it!!!
Is that interview maybe one conducted for the MANIAC launch? I remember that his love for A VIEW TO A KILL was mentioned back then in another interview.
In any event, the script must be much more close to the finishing line. Of course, he plays the game well and says nothing. But I love his positive attitude towards Bond.
Thatās the kind of director the series needs.
Thatās what I got out of the interview as well.
Itās early days. He didnāt say anything wrong, and he maintained my interest.
He sounds an engaging and engaged chap. On the basis Roger Moore and His Stuntmen invented snowboarding in A View to a Kill*, it seems to have been terribly influential for this young sprog. Hopefully the influence stops right there.
*science fact.
In due course, the pernicious, hysterical and utterly false rumour that so blighted our 2019, that they were remaking A View to a Kill, can be traced back to this wantonly irresponsible post of mine.
ā¦if they can get a new Christopher Walken, iād be ecstatic for a remake of a Goldfingerās remake, remake (think about it)
Thankfully, there is and will ever be only one Christopher Walken.
Donāt think the world is ready for more than one.
Hopefully EON hires this guy to do a Bond film in the somewhat near future. If J.J. Abrams can do both Star Trek and Star Wars I donāt see why McQuarrie couldnāt make the jump once Cruise has moved on to his next collaborator.
Iāll take McQuarrie over Nolan any day of the week.
