News on NO TIME TO DIE (no spoilers)

Hasn’t he said exactly this when asked about Bond for about two years now? Until a director is announced, I suspect this rumour will resurface again…

There’s still Demange and Mackenzie from the ‘rumoured’ shortlist.

Sure another big name may step forward, but right now there’s no reason to doubt the shortlist.

While Demange’s Top Boy was excellent. Mackenzie is by far the better choice. If they go for Demange then i suspect it’s because they couldn’t provide a script that Mackenzie was happy with.

Like i and others here have said, Nolan is waiting for Craig to finish, so he can create a ‘Nolan Bond’. The moment Craig said yes to 25 Nolan was out.

If 26 happens soon enough then i’d put money on Nolan directing Hardy as Bond. If it’s several years away then Hardy will be too old (he’s the right age now) and he’ll be Nolan’s villain. Either way that’s me happy

Nolan and Hardy have both talked about how their relationship was from a mutual love of Bond films, and indeed Hardy’s characters in Nolan’s films are all apparantly meant to be like they’re from a Bond film (with Eames and Bane i see it, his Dunkirk character - only at the end do i kind of see it) so i imagine Hardy would be Nolan’s first choice for a hypothetical Bond film.

If we’re talking rumored short lists, id lean toward Mackenzie. Perfect Sense is a phenomonal film.

Yes, in 2015 he gave the same answer practically word for word. Nothing new here, really.

Except that we categorically know now that Nolan isn’t going anywhere near Bond till 26.

I don’t want Hardy as Bond, I really don’t. I’d prefer even Henry Cavill, but there is no way he can be Superman and 007 at the same time.

I’m sure he’ll continue to deny being on board until EON backs that Brinks truck up to his house and unloads an ungodly amount of cash on his front lawn.

Completely understand why he’d give this answer, though. Who knows when BOND 25 is going to actually arrive in theaters, who is going to be Bond, etc. If they come back around to him with a chance to introduce a new Bond in BOND 25, to be released in 2021-2022, I don’t see any reason why he wouldn’t do it.

Nolan also has said before that he has talked to EON and that he would want to start a new era with another actor (not in these words).

So unless Nolan becomes persona non grata by making a few movies that tank or behave inappropriately he will be the guy EON wants for BOND 26.

BOND 25, however, either is still looking for a director or has booked one - only nothing can be said publicly until a last piece of the puzzle falls into place.

By the way - the whole speculation about Villeneuve makes me wonder. The green light for his DUNE remains dubious at best. If that project is cancelled or pushed off for a few years he could still do BOND 25. It´s highly unlikely that DUNE will go in front of cameras this or next year so… yeah, he would be free anyway.

If they wait for him but have Mackenzie and Demange lined up as back-ups it´s probably the fate of DUNE which keeps us from getting the news. Obviously they will and can not wait longer than a few more months now.

I think it’s reasonable to think that, at some point here in the next year or so, that this version of BOND 25 that we’re all talking about will cease to exist and something more closely linked to what we’ve assumed we’ll be getting with BOND 26 will be takings its place (i.e. new Bond, etc.)

Villeneuve does seem more likely than Nolan, simply by what they’ve said publicly re: Bond, the latter talking about having an interest to be on board when it next does a big shake up, but he doesn’t think the series is at that point, whilst the former specifically talked about it in terms of wanting to work with Daniel Craig.

At least he went on the record again. Yes, I think Nolan’s pass is because of Craig’s tenure in the role. He wants a clean slate in terms of being able to shape a new actor taking over the role. Hardy works as a villain for me. Also, go extreme with him. Even age him a bit. - ahem - cough- Drax -cough again- ahem.

It is clear - or damn well should be - that Eon needs to cap off Craig’s run well and then make bloody well sure that they kick off Bond 26 with Bond #7 for 2022 and the 60th anniversary…and make it an CR style contemporized version of Moonraker. Nolan would be the man for the job.

So, Daniel’s… looking like he needs to start hitting the gym… :flushed:

He looks awful. He needs to get into shape, fast! I hope he hasn’t been messing around with botox…

Good Lord! The man looks like a vampire in that shot!

In this video clip he has a strangely smooth look…

Is this Loose Women?

Weird - whether it´s Botox or fat.

Well, there’s enough time for him to get into shape if BOND 25 starts at the end of the year.

Also the fact he’s fifty so you know…that’s also a thing. In any event, if I were him, knowing Bond was looming with all of the work that comes with it, I’d literally be doing nothing for as long as possible. He’ll hit it hard like he always does when it’s time. Until then I’d be knocking back drinks and eating what I wanted. The soft life so to speak.

I think the thing here though is that as of about 2 weeks ago he looked his normal self so it has to be something other than aging or knocking a couple of pints back.

If the man puffs up any more we’re going to have to move this to the Funko Pop thread.

Gentlemen, Craig and I are almost the same generation. And in my experience - and I have lots of, trust me on that - it goes awfully fast how you build up flab. And, worse even, it’s getting harder to get rid of it with each month, no matter how hard you hit it. If you’re not 100 per cent disciplined throughout the year you simply go through hell when it’s payback time. This is probably exactly why the prospect of returning to the role was and is quite horrible for Craig from a purely physical point of view.

I think it’s kind of like when you were a kid and you’d see one of your teachers in the grocery store, shocked that they have a life outside of school.

We’re all just reacting to the fact that the guy who came out of the water in Casino Royale might actually sit down with some ice cream while binging Stranger Things
