I‘m so old.
You are aging with grace and style, while maintaining the classical virtues and understandings.
Now you are making me verklempt.
You think you’re old? I had to ask my son what ‘riz means.
And you know what they say; if you have to ask…
Guys our age google such things…
Doesn´t make it better though…
Geez.. I am getting old too. I need to post more regularly in hopes of such a fine complement! ![]()
It’s not the age, it’s the mileage. ![]()
Just began Chapter 58 on Tuesday. ![]()
Happy belated one, mate…

A very happy one, I hope and wish!
Happy Birthday, old plop.
Cost of living and an alarming inflationary rate for venom means no scorpions this year, but if a neighbour of yours ever questions why a delivery driver dumped a sneezing pangolin in their yard despite being addressed to you, think of me… at least until the excruciating paralysis sets in.
There’s something about TLD that always gets me excited. It’s the tonal shift and sense of danger. In comes the younger Dalton, wearing a black jacket, driving a black Aston and smoking cigarettes. The electronic elements in the soundtrack and the seriousness in contrast to what immediately preceded with Moore is still exciting to think about.
I’m sure it felt even edgier back in 1987.
It did to me.
Having a new guy come in was disconcerting at first, and then thrilling. It felt as if Bond films restarted while still maintaining the atmosphere of what came before.
I was sure to settle in for many more Dalton Bonds.
Even after LTK I thought two years later the next would follow…
Back then, most did not have access to the internet and news was hard to find. Not sure if there were an good email lists (I wasn’t on them).
I kept wondering when the follow-up would come out and even recall a Vancouver based personality saying the next Bond was going to be filmed at a studio there. In 1992, I saw a news story that started… did you notice what did not happen last year and got into the lawsuit a little bit.
I was so disappointed when PB did not get the part but then fell in love with Dalton in TLD. I watched it so often on VHS, I knew most of the script by heart.
