That’s why I hate Bond’s fall from the bridge at the end of the Skyfall PTS. There’s no way he would have survived that (not to mention, after being shot).

Same for me. TND is obviously a sequel to GE, but I do feel the residual energy of its predecessor in there. As a younger fan I liked that aspect because it was resembling something I already liked - while still being a different experience. Both open at snowy mountainside locations with Bond escaping via plane. Running along the print press catwalks evoked the St Petersburg archives. We had a henchman who enjoys pain, and detonating an explosive during the finale. Small things like that sprinkled throughout the runtime but rather significant.

Is it me, or was Brosnan’s era more progressive than the Oscars? As the first black woman to win an Oscar handed the first Asian woman to win an Oscar were BOTH “Bond girls” first?
