Not a movie, but is anyone else watching Bosch on prime, I have just finished season 5 and I must say I find it great, gripping TV Titus Wellever is awesome as Bosch ( would make a great Bond villain imo), actually all the cast are excellent , the jazz score is beautiful to listen to and it’s not afraid to go slow and dark. If you haven’t seen it , check it out.

Glad to see a fellow Harry Bosch fan. I watched the first two seasons, but haven’t gone back to it since. Not for disliking it, I think it’s a great show. I’ve read a lot of the Harry Bosch novels. I’ll return to it at some point when I have more time.

Season 3 is brilliant

Meet the Fockers - annoying but funny at the same time!

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. A great story and Maybe the absolute greatest visuals I’ve ever seen in an animated film.

I saw Toy Story 4 opening weekend but didn’t get around to posting about it here. Toy Story 3 did have a good ending, but Toy Story 4 does justify its existence in my mind, and also has a worthy finale. The ending hurts but it’s meant to. This is a flawless series and elicits such powerful emotions in me. It makes me reflect on my own life.

That’s what Toy Story does…

Watching “that lucky touch” with Sir Roger, good undemanding fun, well recommended to those who haven’t seen it.

Back to the Future with my daughter who was watching it for the first time, and she loved it! Watching No. 2 at the weekend.

Paddington.

So. Many. times.

My son is obsessed with it, so it’s been on endless repeat, but given how good a film it is, it’s an okay thing to hear endlessly.

…also the fact Paddington has the voice of Q is a bonus.

Yes, my kids love it too. Have you also watched Paddington 2?

I sent a message on Twitter to Sanjeev Bhaskar who plays the doctor in both films telling him my kids love his role and he replied saying “Best wishes to your kids”.

I saw Anna, the new spy/action movie from Luc Besson and it’s like Columbiana, which he produced, again a rehash of his own La Femme Nikita.
Not bad, but just not realy interesting.
Sasha Luss is not a great actress, but she has an exellent supporting cast to help her out in Helen Mirren and two Bondcontenders Luke Evans and Cillian Murphy, the first as a Russian spy, the second as a FBI agent.
A couple of tough fightscene’s, but a little too staged, too many atackers who are waiting till it’s their turn to get beaten by Luss. I didn’t realy believe in her fighting skills. Theron and Jolie did this much better in the past!
So not a bad movie, but better watch his older movies like Nikita or the exellent Leon!

I’m seeing the original Matrix in cinemas soon for the 20th anniversary. It’s probably my favourite movie of all time. Since I’m in that mood again I recently rewatched the sequels. If the overlong Zion scenes were trimmed down, I’d actually put Reloaded on near equal footing with the original. It has enjoyable action and interesting ideas, building upon what preceded it. The new characters were great.

Revolutions was essentially an add on just to finish the story, and it gets the most hate. But it also built upon Reloaded and introduced new concepts. The blind messiah, the train station, powers outside the Matrix and the non traditional ending. For whatever reason these films aren’t to everyone’s tastes, but I think the sequels hold up really well considering the rubbish put out today.

Toy Story 4

Watched it with the whole family yesterday. Good fun as always, and poignant ending.

Totally agree with you on this! Matrix Reloaded is actually my favorite. There’s a lot going on, and that car chase on the freeway is fabulous. Wish the last one had a different title–something in keeping with the math theme, like Matrix Inverted or something.

But doesn’t it’s title SPOILER play to the end of the film, of breaking the endless cycle humanity and the machines have been working in?

A little summer movie festival …

Aquaman – Fun visuals, horrible dialog. Amber Heard can’t act. I’m not sure Jason Momoa even tried to act, he just looks like he’s having fun on set and it somehow worked out. Lousy villain.

Suicide Squad – Extended Cut – Not as bad as I remember. Extra 12 minutes goes into each of the squad’s personal history a little bit which makes them more relatable.

Justice League – What if a Snyder Cut exists and it’s actually worse? Not sure this one could be saved.

Men in Black – International Either I fell asleep during part of it or the writing was so bad they skipped a scene. This movie had two flashbacks to scenes earlier in the movie. Talk about lazy writing. And Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson, with such great chemistry in Thor Ragnarok, somehow have none this time around.

John Wick 3 – Parabellum Probably the best of this lot. Watched JW2 the night before, which was good to catch the references. Interesting how the hitmen’s “Company” alerts clients to contract via smart phones but is itself filled with retro-tech–typewriters, green monitors, chalkboards like a bookie’s. The secretaries with crazy tattoos is a nice touch. There will probably be a fourth.

Avengers Endgame (re-release) Bonus has a Hulk scene which you can see why it was edited out. But they didn’t even bother to finish the CGI on it. Also, a Stan Lee tribute and the opening of Spiderman Far From Home. There’s so much in the movie I picked up on new things even during my fourth viewing. For example, opening montage only has original six avengers, none of the “dusted” ones. Marvel won’t even spoil on their title page! Cap grabs four Pym Particles when he only needs three, so I think he was planning on going back when all was said and done. Then he runs into Peggy’s office. 2014 Thanos learns line “I’m inevitable” when he sees 2019 Thanos’ death.

Spiderman Far From Home Didn’t like this as much as I wanted to, even on second viewing. Spiderman is the only Marvel franchise I don’t see on preview night. It takes about an hour before it gets interesting. It’s kind of a teen romance up to that point–sort of like those 80s movies about losing virginity, only in the family friendly Marvel world it’s about getting a date. That being said, it probably has two of the best end credits scenes ever–one with dire consequences for the web-slinger, and the second that completely flips the MCU on its head. Great special effects, good acting, fantastic locales, good score. Not sure why it didn’t click with me.

Friend of mine asked if I’d seen any movies, and I explained my AMC A-List subscription allows 3 movies a week, and I’ve been averaging about two a week, so ten movies so far. But no, not much out there is good. Glad to hear Toy Story 4 is good. Will check that out next.
