007 First Light - IO Interactive

I’ve been playing the TacSim challenges and some of them are quite challenging. Brawling is still tough especially when enemies gang up on you but when you land the right combos it’s so satisfying.

I am very happy with the vast amount of positive buzz for First Light. It seems that it is universally liked and by many outside of the Bond community too. And despite being rather expensive to produce, the game is doing well commercially and I’m guessing IOI will be getting greenlit for the sequel very soon.

Agreed. I can see myself playing tacsim for a good while, especially when they update the maps. Really looking forward to driving the Valhalla. My go to suit has been midnight ray - the closest I can get to the black tuxedo. Judging by the game’s last cinematic Bond will be wearing more suits in a hopefully green lit sequel as well.

With Amazon owning the property I understand them wanting to oversee things from now on. But it still makes me a little uneasy. Hopefully they see the success that First Light has been, retain IO Interactive and keep this particular narrative. If both parties can get on the same page then fingers crossed the show rolls on.

I kind of think people are overreacting to this. Mostly this just means Amazon will be publishing future games. IO interactive self-published First Light. Look at Tomb Raider. Amazon is publishing, but they are still contracting Crystal dynamics to develop the games. Until further notice, I’d say Bond is still in good hands.

We don’t have to wait until another game to see Bond’s first action as 007, which is cool. I’m just as excited about the vehicle side of things. It’s the opportunity to flesh that side of things out in a more satisfying way. I have my fingers crossed we get to ride the motorbike too.

IO have gone far quicker with demonstrating how they are keeping the hitman model.

They do this with Hitman. As im typing, im curious if they will have their Bond go up against Sean Bean and Le Chiffre…

2.7 million sold in the first week. Strong reviews, strong sales, ongoing content and Bond true to the spirit despite all insistence to the contrary. Once the game was released all the talking points were washed away. Those voices on social media look more like they didn’t want this to work rather than genuine concern. It’s performing even better than I hoped and I was always optimistic. I estimate Everything or Nothing had more gameplay in the story mode, but when all is said and done with the First Light additions there will be more than enough to enjoy.

@MrKiddWint there’s a pair of twin assassins in this game that immediately made me think of you.

I’d argue First Light has as much gameplay in the story as Everything or Nothing, it’s just different. Most levels in Everything or Nothing are massive firefights, whereas First Light relies much more on stealth.

Thank you Orion. I hope they acquitted themselves honourably.

It more relies on being a walking simulator where Bond follows another character and listens to expositional dialogue before he’s then allowed to roam around on his own and engage in mini games and quicktime events. I’d love to go back through this game a second time and get a time breakdown of what I actually am spending my time doing because it feels like walking and/or driving with other characters as they deliver expositional dialogues is what I’ve spent most of my time doing so far.

There is much more “stealth” than the average Bond game, which is a good thing, but the stealth here is often comedic. I’ve had numerous instances so far of being engaged in an all-out fistfight with multiple enemies while another enemy, who both has a direct line of sight and is less than 30 feet away, stands there blissfully unaware of the mayhem that is literally occurring directly in front of him.

I’m actually playing it right now and just got spotted by an enemy. He yelled out to his associates that he had found me. I knocked him off the platform we were on and onto a walkway where two guards were standing. Neither of them noticed their colleague falling from a decent height and landing between them, nor did they hear the yelling or the fistfight, and the entire rest of the squad just continued about their programmed routes as though nothing had happened.

I achieved the platinum trophy today. Still have the in-game challenges to complete along with more tacsim before the roadmap content kicks in. Plenty to keep me occupied.

Nice! I unlocked the platinum a few days ago as well. I’m planning to make a platinum run video. Soon, once I finish editing together my First Light movie video.

You need to keep holding on to the enemy as you go over an edge, resulting in Bond using them to cushion his fall.

Thank you! That would’ve driven me mad.
