It’s been upped to five a while ago

Back in my teens I wondered if there ever was a chance to see Molony in the films. Some - me included - considered him a rare ‘friend’ of Bond and an important element of his world.
Actual evidence in the books is sparse and I probably imagined this character’s importance. He tells M not to break his tools by overuse in Dr No, but that’s hardly a sign of ‘friendship’.
Of course, Molony is bringing back Bond’s regular personality - together with his traumatic memories* - in Fleming’s last book. But that’s also mainly done on M’s orders, not out of altruism or personal friendship.
*Actually, no. It’s not sure that he does. Bond’s fierce hatred of the Russian murder machine KGB is back - but in the whole book there’s no mention at all of Tracy. Which is extremely strange given Bond sets out to find Scaramanga almost to the day two years since Bond asked Tracy to marry him. One would expect this detail to feature in some way.

Wow! Peter Cook as Q!!! I would have loved to see that!
The question is of course whether he had taken the role and the film deadly seriously. I have a feeling that his presence would have mostly created amusing chaos.
And Rod Taylor has retired.
Ogilvy thus becomes the official successor to Roger Moore, first as The Saint, now as Bond, and if he also participates in a failed, unfunny comedy with Michael Caine, his career will be complete.
