It’s quality music, right at the end of Barry’s initial golden run.
I wasn’t expecting DAF but I definitely wanted it. A film with heavy hitting creative talent on board and a joy to experience when taken in the right spirit. Surprising depth too, as we know.
I rather did expect it. (I know, I know. Mr. KiddWint always expects something DAF).
55th Anniversary release maintains the xxth Anniversary pattern. We have had 40th; 45th; 50th (twice); 55th; 60th (twice). A FYEO release this year would fit the pattern–45th Anniversary.
DAF released on its Diamond Anniversary (60th) would have been cute, but I, for one, did not want to wait five more years, so an Emerald Anniversary release is more than okay.
Order placed. Now I can just wait until a community member tells us La-La Land has started shipping.
Yes! This one is a winner! I hope the longer intro of the title song is also there like in the movie.
I thought of ordering it now for the first time at the 007 store (so I don’t have to wait for a whole month longer again), but the price difference is huge!
On Lala it is $32,98 or 28,63 euro and at the 007 store it is…. 44,95 euro!!!
How could you be after doing this grand and necessary work?
So wonderful to have Mr. Wint and Mr. Kidd in their proper places at the beginning and the end of the soundtrack. They were not included on the original disc. I am verklempt.
Chris Malone and I discuss James Bond music and the new “Diamonds Are Forever” album with Chris Wood and John Williams (no, not that John Williams) in the latest episode of the “Music of Bond” podcast.
It’s going to be great. In terms of John Barry soundtracks we only really have You Only Live Twice, A View To A Kill and The Living Daylights left considering the status of From Russia With Love and Goldfinger’s session master tapes.
Notification received that DAF has shipped. No recommendation about playing the water balloons, though. Looking forward to giving @MrKiddWint a thorough impression of LaLaLand’s work once I get my hands on it.
Still waiting for my notification, but I got something else this week for which I was searching for many years: the 7” single of “Les Yeux de’l Amour” by Mireille Mathieu, the French version of “The Look of Love” from CR67, which she sang for the French version of the movie. A promo version, “not for sale”, only intended for use in jukeboxes. Not that it’s really really hard to find, it’s just hard to find at a reasonable price. I vowed not to pay the three-digit sum some sellers are asking, my limit was 50 Euros plus shipping (the current median value is around 70). And as the shipping from this seller was only 4 Euros, I thought that 55 is still a bargain…
She also sang versions in Italian and German, but to my knowledge, those were never released on vinyl at the time (I’d be happy for someone to prove me wrong). But now I found out that there was a remastered extended version of one of her early LPs, which contains not only the single version, but also an alternate version, a longer movie version and both the German and the Italian version. And I found a copy for under 20 Euros, which is currently on its way…
