As an addendum to my previous comments, I have now seen NTTD two additional times and each viewing has increased my appreciation for the score immensely. I am now inclined to agree with you that the obvious Zimmer elements really do support the film well and give it a unique feel that suits its eventual destination character-wise. There is a heavy fatalistic quality. I may be projecting that element in hindsight, but it is there nonetheless for me.
Upon rewatching Goldeneye I realised I absolutely love the score while watching the film, but really do not enjoy it when listening to the soundtrack.
Something about it just really works for me within the film, but listening to the score in isolation I just can’t get into it… I’m not sure but I think that that makes me appreciate it more in a way - that it serves its purpose in complementing the picture as opposed to being “good” in its own right.

Wow! Wow! Wow! Thanks for discovering it and pointing it out! I ordered them immediately!
Great news! What a wonderful surprise! I will eagerly be getting both of them. It’s certainly a Merry Christmas for Bond fans.
But what could be on the new expanded Live and Let Die cd, what’s not already on the existed expanded cd?
What happened to the intention, before NTTD was released, to release expanded CDs of Moonraker and LTK?
Missed the anniversaries by that much…
But I’ll take 'em.
Octopussy is especially welcome considering the limited official release we’ve had all these years. It’s important these two albums are supported to indicate there’s hunger for more.
Completely agree.
Same here, wondering what was missing in the previous release that justifies a 2-cd boxset.
Octopussy is definitely worth it. Now hoping for a 50th anniversary boxset for TMWTGG next year.
Nothing in the way of new material. Disc 1 is the extended CD, remastered and put into film order. Disc 2 is the original soundtrack release with a couple alternate/extended cues added to the end.
I already have the extended CD arranged into film order in my Apple Music, so I’ll just stick with that. Octopussy on the other hand is very welcome.
LLL, however, is known for spectacular remastering, and that makes it a must buy for me, especially since I have always loved Martin‘s score and would rank him as the best Bond composer after Barry.
Any film that had a limited official tracklisting would be good with me, especially if they’re MR and LTK.
While of course the music is the same between this release and the 2003 album, we didn’t simply take that master and put it on disc one, nor did we simply put the album master on disc two. The entire score on disc one has been newly assembled and remixed from the 16-track tapes and these mixes have been further edited for disc two to recreate the 1973 album. And as you noted there are also additional bonus cues on disc two and it’s all been newly mastered.
Shame on me, I did not know you are here!
Thank you so much for your magnificent work.
I will restrain myself from asking about future Bond score expansions.
Trying really hard…
Trying…
In fairness to me I DID say the albums had been remastered. My quote was specifically referring to a question about whether there was any new material.
As SAF said, thank you for your work, which I’m sure is tremendous.
Thanks, I’ve heard it all before.
Sure, but I read it as we took something existing and reconfigured it and that’s not the case. This was done from the ground up with goals that differed from the earlier expansion. When people hear it I think they’ll realize that. I hope everyone enjoys it.
Already ordered. Together with OP.
The 2003 release of LALD was a revelation to me. I enjoyed the original vinyl release well enough – it was my first Bond soundtrack purchase – but I tended to remember it as inferior to the Barry scores and looking back I’m not convinced my disc wasn’t slightly warped, as parts of it seemed vaguely out of tune. The CD was a huge improvement and the extra material was very welcome, so if this one has even more, I’m in. Plus I had no idea the last one was 20 years ago already, and that’s way too long to go without a refresh.
Between these and the Star Trek TOS “1701 Collection” I can see LaLaLand Records will be getting a lot of my money this year…
Cheers Neil and, THANK YOU to you and the amazing crew at LLLR!
