From Russia With Love Remade in GTA 5! (2 years in the making)

I’ve always been obsessed with the look and feel of From Russia with Love and other early Bond films. For the last two years, my team and I have been working to recreate that specific Cold War atmosphere using the GTA 5 engine. This film is the second in our series and will certainly not be the last.

We hired professional voice actors, a dedicated editor and a VFX editor to make sure this felt like a legitimate cinematic experience. We really leaned into the 60s cinematography and the tension of the original story.

This trailer is a huge milestone for us after such a long production. We’d love to hear what you guys think of the aesthetic and how we used the engine. If you have a specific question about the film or how it was made, please don’t hesitate in asking (I love answering questions :slight_smile: )

Impressive feat, congrats. Are the faces GTA5’s default character design without a real-world actor as template? They look a bit same-y to me. Obviously you try to come close to the original without using actors’ likenesses. If anything, I’d probably have veered a bit more from the original.

Thanks! Yeah, I used reference photos of the original cast (except Bond) and spent a lot of time in the online character creator trying to match their features as closely as possible. It’s definitely a challenge working within the engine’s limits to make a character look like the actual actor.
