I think with Indy it’ll be both first and third person. We should be able to switch viewpoints on Indy. Sorry if I’m wrong.
Unfortunately, this is where the industry is headed. All told, it’s eventually going to end up being where, to get the full “main” experience that $50 or $60 would have gotten you back in the day, is going to cost well over $100 and be even more bug filled than they used to be.
I used to really enjoy playing a lot of these games and kind of got back into it a bit more when the prices of these new systems was a bit more within reach than they once were, but it’s just hard getting keeping up with it these days when the product is getting as bad as its getting lately.
I’m still interested in playing it. I think Sallah will appear in the Egypt part. Considering this is set between ROTLA and TLJ.
We are going to heal the world.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is off to a decent start with reviews. Yep, The Great Circle is a day one purchase for me, for PS5. Troy Baker REALLY nailed copying Harrison Ford. It sounds like George Lucas and Steven Spielberg DEFINITELY had some ideas that were used. They’re gamers, we can trust them in more ways than one, (even Lucas, who has some say over other Indiana Jones (and Star Wars) games, with his company. Maybe The Great Circle is the comeback that Indy needed. It is getting better reviews than Crystal Skull, Staff of Kings, Army of the Dead and Dial of Density, that’s for sure. Sequel announcement soon, perhaps?
I don’t think we’re getting Project 007 next year.
I’m glad Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is getting good reviews. Indy is long overdue for a proper video game return (I still lament the PS3 version of Staff of Kings getting the axe). Machine Games were the right studio to handle Indy. I’ll be downloading it on PC soon.
Lucky, I got to wait until spring or summer next year on PS5. I actually did read some spoilers, and I’m happy that I was wrong.
Tbh I’m just happy it’s coming to ps5 at all. For a long while it looked like it was going to be an Xbox exclusive.
I honestly find it annoying that MS reworked the contract to cancel the PS5 version, just to reverse course and make one anyway. There’s no reason it couldn’t have launched simultaneously on Xbox and PS5.
I don’t think there was any danger of it happening anyway. There’s little evidence that this game even exists, let alone anywhere near a build that’s releasable.
This is a likely 2026 game. The last report about it was that the game didn’t even enter full production until late 2022. Average game development time is 4.5 years now.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle (2024)
8.5/10
As a huge Indiana Jones fan, it’s great that we finally got a true, high quality, AAA Indiana Jones game to rival Uncharted and Tomb Raider. However, it sucks that Bethesda was the one publishing it. Honestly, this game is great. To start, this is NOT the game you think it is. The story takes place in 1937 about a year after Raiders (which factors into the game’s story). The game opens with a very familiar intro (I could’ve done without it personally). But then a seemingly insignificant artifact is stolen from Marshall College setting Indy off on a globe trotting adventure to stop the Nazis from discovering the secret of the Great Circle (of which, that secret doesn’t disappoint and fits right in with Indy’s other adventures). There 3 main hub areas that can each easily take 10-12 hours to fully complete as there are many side quests and collectibles to complete. For me, where the game shows its weaknesses is in the combat. The game is very much a stealth game, with some of the clunkiest combat to be found anywhere. This is where I think the Todd Howard influence hurts the game. Sure Indy isn’t a super soldier or a spy, but he knows how to handle a gun. In this game, when Indy needs to use a gun it feels like he’s never held a gun before. The game encourages stealth and melee take downs, but the game doesn’t always register the hit correctly. There are times I set up perfectly for a stealth takedown only to have Indy swing at him normally, get into a fight, and trigger an alarm. There are numerous sections where when this happens, it’s basically a death sentence due to the melee combat being slow and the gunplay being very poor (a shotgun takes 2 shots to kill). The is is my biggest gripe with the game and what I believe keeps it from the highest of heights.
That said, it’s still both an excellent Indiana Jones game and just a great game overall. Machine Games was absolutely the correct studio to make this game and we’ll see if they get to make a follow up.
I’ve been diving into The Witcher 3 during lockdown, and it’s been an incredible experience. The storytelling and world-building are top-notch. I also finished Control recently and loved how Remedy tied their universe together. Red Dead Redemption II was emotional Arthur Morgan’s journey is unforgettable. Excited to hear your thoughts on Breath of the Wild it’s a masterpiece! Looking forward to Ghost of Tsushima too.
