George Lazenby to stop signing dedicated autographs

A few years ago, I heard of two book projects about OHMSS on which two different teams of German authors were working. I know at least parts of both teams personally and I got word that both would like to get in touch with him. I contacted him and he agreed that I give them his e-mail address.

This book is the effort of one of those teams, don’t know what became of the other one.

I don’t know if any of them actually contacted him, and I have no idea if there were any significant consultations, but if things went the way things should go, he at least knows about it.

I really hope they work things out to allow international orders. This is one of my most anticipated Bond products in years.

Just order it on German Amazon and no problems at all.

Just got a note that my scheduled delivery has been postponed from March 28th to April 30th… :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

So than I’m a lucky guy, because they told me April 29th! Hee a day earlier is a day earlier, right?

And now I got another new mail with an update that it’s gonna be the 30th of April.

Watching the 1970 Lazenby interview again after a while and I think he comes off well. He was reasonable, admitting to being uptight on set because of his inexperience and Hunt being busy. Acknowledging he was at fault with what he said to Diana Rigg about her drinking, and how he can’t complain about his overall experience because he didn’t come off so bad after all.

There will probably never be anything like the OHMSS saga again, and it has such Aussie larrikinism about it. Talking his way from nothing into the role, everything ending before it really gets to start, and then having to talk his way into interviews after being removed from the publicity tour for refusing to shave his beard.

Lazenby called the film crew his mates and went drinking with them. He remarked without them he would’ve gone insane. That’s where this book comes in, so I’m eager to read what stories are included.

It was one year of his life but it became his whole life.

Lazenby has dementia.

Oh dear, that’s a tough diagnosis. Good to know he’s not alone, may they keep this devil at bay for a long time.

Very sad to hear. Wishing him and all of those around him nothing but the best.

Terrible diagnosis and outlook.

A part of the article that made me smile in what is devastating news:

Nowadays, he is regularly asking if he’ll ever ā€˜have a car again’.

ā€˜He has loved cars ever since he first drove his uncle’s vintage Plymouth down the country road in Goulburn as a small boy.

ā€˜I always equivocate and say: ā€œMaybe, you never know, but I don’t think so.ā€ And then he’ll look at me with a spark of his old wilfulness. And he’ll say: ā€œI can still drive better than anybody.ā€
