With 2024 coming to a close soon, let’s look at 2025. What James Bond news do you hope to see? It could be anything Bond related.
For me:
Another adult Bond novel, or another spinoff series, from IFP.
Kim Sherwood finishes her Double-00 trilogy.
Dynamite Comics either ends or renews their IFP contract.
Project 007 gets a true title, or general news.
The Q Mysteries hopefully makes its release date in October 2025.
Bond 26 director (and screenwriters apart from P & W) get announced.
IFP restores Fleming’s original text to his books.
La-La Land records releases a 2-cd set for DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER honoring its 54th Anniversary. Community members rejoice, and everyone pre-orders the set (even those who do not usually pre-order anything).
Daniel Craig stops getting asked who the next James Bond should be.
I’m interested in all these things except the Sherwood and Q projects. I already have copies of the original Fleming texts, so that’s less urgent even though I think they should still be available.
A new Bond film and Project 007 are at the top of my tree.
I’m feeling hopeful there will be more expanded soundtracks.
I’m not sure myself, it’s just a question, but I’m not missing anytthing, there’s even some source music on the last track, like the music from the scene with the “gorilla” breaking out of its cage. Maybe there was some music edited/shortened for the original album which can restored. On cd1 the complete score as heard in the film and on cd2 the original album remastered plus alternative and unused tracks?
but… that said, TSWLM is the one that really needs an upgrade first, because all this time we’ve been stuck with an album that I don’t think has a second of original score on it, everything has been rerecorded especially for the album and everything sounds a lot worse than in the film, where I often think the score is really good, but I think the album is just so-so.
Also, the usual Bond research books.
Biographies of those associated with the series.
Hopefully, Gail Simone’s Iridescent from Dynamite Comics will start its publication.
IFP publishing an affordable edition of Ian Fleming’s recently unearthed Moonraker film script would be a nice treat for us literary Bond fans. It would make sense, as it is the 70th anniversary of Moonraker. Maybe, (I’m repeating myself, I know), a Dynamite Comics version of the story. Unfortunately, it sounds like Van Jensen is done with Bond, for now.
Maybe a re-release of Trigger Mortis by Anthony Horowitz, for its 10th anniversary.
Also, surprisingly, more Lego sets about various Bond scenes.
There are other wishes for me, but if I say them (possibly again) they probably won’t come true.
It would be great, updated 4k versions of the past games. This would help to get younger generations get into Bond faster. Everything or Nothing in particular deserves a modern day video game restoration. It’s a shame that it wasn’t done this year, for it’s 20th anniversary. It’s one of my favorite Bond adventures from the last 30 years.
Outside of the original GoldenEye game, none of the Bond games have been anywhere close to popular enough with the general gaming public to warrant any kind of a remaster.
Perhaps ironically, but in 2024, I have two “current generation” consoles and the only Bond game I can play is Goldeneye 64, a game nearly 30 years old. For the last two console generations, outside of GE, there’s been zero Bond presense.
When gaming is perhaps the most important medium to target new, younger fans, it’s ridiculous there hasn’t been a new game since 2012 and two console generations ago. At the very least surely they can throw AUF, NF, EoN etc. for purchase, they don’t even need remastering. At least have something available.
Something real to anticipate that’s actually coming out next year. How refreshing. I love listening to podcasts while driving and at home doing jigsaw puzzles, so I’ll be subscribing as soon as possible.
Very hopeful for more Bond remasters from La-La Land Records. Listening to the remaster of Moonraker as I type. Those alternate versions of the main title sung by Paul Williams are a treat.
Well, here is 2025! Happy New Year! I wonder if IFP plans to announce their yearlong plans at the end of January like last year. And not just re-releasing old material.
