Happy New Year my fellow Bond Fans!

Here’s hoping we get some great Bond news this year. What do you want to hear most from the world of James Bond?

For me:

The usual:
Bond 26 news, new adult Bond novel, 007 First Light to make its release date. I’m simple.

I pretty much agree.

A new James Bond novel set in the present day, more newly expanded Bond CDs from lalaland, and further Bond 26 news/progress would be ideal capped by the naming of the new 007 actor–preferably in my case, Henry Cavill.

I’d love to get the screen writer and next Bond actor. Alas, I still think it’ll be 2027 before we hear about that since Denis Villeneuve is hard at work on Dune 3.

Otherwise, I can’t wait to play 007 First Light as that looks incredible and I’m hoping we hear about the next Bond novel. On His Majesty’s Secret Service was decent, if short. I’m looking forward to a new full-length novel.

First Light released and in good condition.
More soundtrack releases (news on that could be imminent)

Those are the most realistic expectations. As always I hope for Bond 26 news but I’m also not wishing my life away. There’s still a long way to go.

We already have Steven Knight set to write BOND26. Of course that will very likely not be the only writer, but I would expect there’s at least some kind of treatment already in the works, based on discussions with Villeneuve, Pascal, Heyman and Lapointe.

I hope for definite news on BOND26 by late 2026. Sooner would always be welcome, but realistically we’ve got to expect the odd delay. I’d be very surprised if there were a new adult Bond novel before there is progress on BOND26. But perhaps the odd interesting Making of book pops up unexpectedly. 007 First Light is probably the big event in 2026.

We have the director, writer and both producers for Bond 26 and a new game coming out. As much as I’d like Dynamite to put out more and a new Bond novel, we are definitely in a better place than this time last year.

With DUNE 3 set for a December 18 release (expect that to change since on that day AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY will steamroll everything and snatch those IMAX screens away), Villeneuve will be busy getting the film ready and embark on a world wide PR tour.

Sure, he will have downtime to read and comment on first drafts and probably watch casting tapes but he won’t be fully committed until DUNE is in his rearview mirror.

So maybe we will get casting rumours at the end of the year (also for Villeneuve who will surely be hammered with questions on Bond to milk PR for DUNE) but 2027 will be the year where news on Bond will be more reliable.

Ah, I must’ve missed the writer announcement. My bad. Still hoping we learn who the actor is, but I know that is most likely wishful thinking for this year.

Look up his work, work that isn’t Who Wants To Be A Millionaire is good. I think I’m the only one who liked his version of A Christmas Carol but I think SAS: Rogue Heroes is going to be closer to how he writes Bond 26

But as @Dustin pointed out, the odds of him being the only writer are low

Yes! ROGUE HEROES is a pretty awesome template for understanding the concept of “men on a mission,” an aspect of all espionage that is critical. It also features lots of humor, which is reassuring with Villeneuve at the helm. I thoroughly enjoyed binge-watching both seasons last month.
