I suppose the original prop was meant to look homemade, either by her mother or by some Etsy artisan. Plus, they didn’t want some established character - Mickey Mouse, Pippa Pig, a thousand others - to feature in their film for free. And they evidently didn’t want to pay the necessary $ 15m. So it’s Dou-dou now.
