Throughout large parts of February and March this year, I’ve been working on an interesting project:
Through the German Bond Club, I got to know this singer, Meike Garden. Her claim to fame is a participation in the ESC in the 1980s, where made a 14th place for Germany (a duet with her mother, she was 9 years old back then). She became a professional singer and musical teacher after that, and now she’s got various programs which she plays. Among a set of love songs and one of French chansons, she also performs as „LadyBOND“, singing Bond songs. She has been doing this as a solo act on piano for a few years, and now – brand new – she’s also doing this with a Band.
A few years ago, I’ve created some background images for her show, using movie stills or posters. She contacted me in early February this year and asked if I was able to some additional background images for her new LadyBond+BAND project. While we discussed the project, we came to the conclusion that it might become to risky to use the copyright material any longer (heaven knows how the Bezoes would handle something like this), and so we decided that I would do completely new „own“ images, not necessarily relating to the movie but instead looking for inspiration in the songs’ lyrics. I was going to do this using the help of AI, which I had never done before on such a large scale project. This was a great opportunity for me to delve deeper into the world of AI image generation and learn a lot about what’s possible with these new tools. Of course, I didn’t want to rely entirely on AI, so there was a lot of additional photoshopping to do as well.
It was an interesting and tough project that had me working until the wee hours many nights for four weeks, and it was completed no less than two days before the Premiere on March 21st at the Heinz-Hilpert-Theater in the small German town of Lünen – which was a rousing success.
Posting the entire set of 18 images would be a bit much, but I can give you a little impression by posting two photos and two videos from the event, and a few of the images.
Hope you like…
