Movies: Presumably 2025, maybe Beyond

Very good trailer. Let’s hope it won’t be a documentary.

Not overly surprising. When your biggest earners involve packing people together sardine like, a pandemic does kinda insist on a restructuring.

The interesting aspect here is: Disney is the first to decide that. Why are the other studios so hesitant, despite envying Disney´s profits?

Nostalgia.

Inertia.

Having spent a good deal of time and effort denouncing cable/streaming services, and now having to join them.

Fear of change.

But… one would suppose money would be a quick decision enhancer.

I think it already is.

NO TIME TO DIE, however, will be in theatres. Someday. Who knows.

To know that someday NTTD is going to be released in theaters…

… akin to the feeling Charlton Heston has watching WOODSTOCK in “The Omega Man”?

On this note, does anyone have any stats on how many fewer movies were actually made in 2020 compared to normal years. What percentage decrease has there been?

What is actually being made in this time, when social distancing prevents gathering of actors and film crews?

Not a movie, but something to potentially look forward to if done right.

Film crews can control their bubbles to avoid infection much better and therefore can proceed.

Fantastic news, I loved the series but was disappointed with the final season. This is an opportunity to end things on a better note. Here’s hoping.

To all journalists, this is the actual answer to when and where films will be released for at least another year.

I just don’t see theaters opening before anything else. Sports has adjusted with bubbles, limited to no attendance, and television. Concerts have shifted toward drive-in (at fairgrounds, even most venues have large parking lots.) Restaurants and bars are moving outdoors and offering curbside pickup, even beer to go.

But theaters? They just aren’t equipped to adapt (multi-plexes in malls, etc.). The drive-ins have largely been demolished or don’t have the surround sound and digital upgrades for modern movies. Some smaller independently owned theaters are making adjustments (concessions?) with outdoor showings and even some streaming and zooming with guest panelists and film festivals. But mostly theater chains seem the most stubborn and reluctant to adapt. Adapt or die. They seem unable and unwilling to do the former.
