Movies: Presumably 2026, maybe Beyond

AVATAR sequels until 2031…

Oi weh.

Suddenly Cameron thinks he is Carl Theodor Dreyer when it comes to releasing movies?

Of note in that story is that ‘No Time to Die’ was one of only 3 profitable movies they had during their tenure at MGM…

Are you suggesting that one is credited with having a REALLY bad idea that got MGM sold off?!? #Bond26

It occurred to me today that James Cameron will be 77 years old when the last Avatar movie comes out.

I would really prefer him to turn them over to others and turn his attention to different projects.

I guess he changed after THE ABYSS.

Think he changed after all reviews of Terminator 2 didn’t talk about the performances, the stage design, the direction, the writing, the editing…etc, etc

They just talked cgi.

All they talked about was the CGI

Oh look what Cameron has focussed on nothing else since…

If TITANIC had tanked he would have gone back to original ideas and smaller budgets,I believe.

But as the King of the World he wanted the crown to stay firmly on his head.

And then… AVATAR.

And then… Avatar 2.

Audiences just said: yes, we love what you give us. Don’t change anything. Manufacture your whopper menu and we will come.

I think honestly if Titanic or one of the Avatars bombed, James Cameron would be the modern day Michael Cimino. Both are dictators as much as directors. James Cameron can’t write an original story. He says he plans on leaving someone else to direct Avatar 4 & 5. It’s sad that he keeps getting his money to make more.

I think the biggest problem with understanding Tenet (or not in this case) is that the soundtrack and special effects many times–WAAAY too many times–drown out the dialogue of the film so the viewer either has a difficult time following what’s being said or simply cannot follow what’s being said to help them better understand what’s going on regarding the film’s laws of moving forwards and backwards via inversion.

As far as I know this problem occurred in cinemas which did not have a modern or well-calibrated sound system. The film mix has no problems in the home video version, however.

Wow. Nolan has more power than Cruise!

Oh, well that’s good. I haven’t seen Tenet since I first saw in the theater.

Wow, this even came in below “Black Adam.”

Superhero fatigue has set in…

I guess even the rave advance reviews (by studio heads and famous people) did not tilt the scales…

Well, with the Spider-man movie cleaning up at the box office, WB/DC still is not considered too much of a draw for the wider audience. Copying Marvel is not the way to go, and the multiverse can only sustain so much interest. The Ezra Miller problems did not help, despite the PR people really managing it so well.

Personally, I would hope superheroes movies to shrink down to occasional Superman/Batman/Spider-Man-films.

It will be interesting to see how Marvel will fare without the big guns in their catalogue (and how they will handle their actor problem). But with no real popular superhero in sight for the next year(s) it could very well be that mass audience approval will wane a lot.

Interesting analysis why the box office was disappointing. This is also a good hint at why product placement is so important to Bond.

His voice would take getting used to perhaps, but overall I think he’s pretty much ready made for Bond in the various categories. He’s the right age, muscular and would handle the action side of things just fine. The bit with him holding the crossbow behind the table gives us an idea how he could be in the role, without the beard of course.

I think if he was speaking in his natural British accent it would be a lot easier to adjust to the voice, which is admittedly very young-sounding. Especially after Craig’s baritone.
