Movies: Presumably 2026, maybe Beyond

Imagine watching Titanic for two hours, only to have the credits roll just before the ship hits the iceberg

I’d say history was a spoiler

I would have gotten one hour and fifteen minutes of my life back, which, in actuality, were irredeemably lost to me.

Thankfully I’ve never watched Titanic

Looks like David Gordon Greene’s continued downward trajectory with his legacy horror sequels might be continuing with this one. This does not look good, at all.

Guy’s gotta eat.

His first movie, GEORGE WASHINGTON, was shown at the New York Film Festival.

I’ll write my review now and there’s a 90% chance it will hold up 2 months from now:

“I liked it just fine. It was fun seeing Ellen Burstyn back as Chris MacNeil. I don’t need 2 additional sequels, though.”

She definitely has to eat. I bet being co-President of the Actor’s Studio doesn’t pay a heck of a lot. Don’t watch horror movies, but would watch on streaming just for her parts.

“You know, what happened was I’ve turned down many versions of ‘The Exorcist 2’. I said no every time,” Burstyn explained. “This time they offered me a whole bunch of money and I still said no. And then they surprised me and they came back and said, ‘We doubled the offer.’ I said, ‘OK, let me think about this.’ I thought, ‘That’s a lot of money. Let me think about it.’ The next thought that came to mind was: ‘I feel like the devil is asking my price.’ And the next thought that came to mind was, ‘My price is a scholarship program for talented students at our master’s degree program at Pace University. That’s my price.’ So I then went back and upped their up and ended up getting what I want. And now I’ve got a scholarship program for a lot of young actors.”

She is even greater than I realized (her talent already being transcendent).

It´s probably an effective movie, but the first movie was the surprise and therefore a phenomenon which could not be repeated.

Instead it became a formula, and now it´s just one of the many that came before. The curse of “IP is the only thing studios greenlight”.

Let’s hope it won’t be so successful that it will allow for at least two more sequels.

At least some good came out of the film already, regardless of how good or bad it ends up being, with Burstyn being able to double her salary and get a scholarship set up out of their desperation for her to appear in the film in order to essentially justify its existence.

I’m sure it’ll be “effective”, whatever that means for a film like this. Probably the same could be said for any of the Exorcist knock-offs that we’ve seen over the past few decades, as there is a probably a few dozen of them at least. This franchise has proven that it can do interesting things with The Exorcist III, a film that takes place in the same world, toys with similar themes, but does something entirely different with them. Unless they’ve got some great trick up their sleeve (which they may not, because test screenings have been a resounding disaster for this film), this really just looks like any old Exorcist knock-off with Ellen Burstyn shoe-horned into it so they could call it The Exorcist.

Tough crowd

Sir Sean donated his DAF salary to help found the Scottish International Education Trust, and made one of the greatest Bonds to boot.

Will history repeat itself?

I guess Connery was in a more comfortable situation…
