Movies: Presumably 2026, maybe Beyond

A rare movie sequel that I want. There’s still a lot of Mario material and characters that they can explore. Also, I’ve heard some criticism about it being too early for Mario Galaxy as a second story, but I do believe that it should work for Mario and his characters. I have a few theories on who will be introduced, classic character wise.

Maybe this will open the door for his return in Jaws 5

Weirdly, there is a new film out starring Eva Green directed by Martin Campbell, and it is more b-movie fodder.

Brainiac confirmed?

I’m still excited, for various reasons. I give Lucasfilm credit for being secretive about what that TMAG is about. It feels like we know more about Starfighter than we do this!

Boy. That was terrible.

Looks exactly like the TV show. Doesn’t look remotely cinematic.

Grogu speaking in that weird voice at the end…

And Jabba. And the AT-ATs.

„Hey, shareholders, we know now how to make the fans happy about a new movie! We‘re making it worse than the show!“

This is what we get for lambasting Lucasfilm every time they take risks (The Last Jedi, The Acolyte), all the while applauding them for a TV show which has been mediocre at best (Mandalorian).

Exactly. They’re just giving the people what the people have told them that they want.

And there was nothing overtly wrong with The Last Jedi. Dare I say, :scream: , it was the best of the sequel trilogy.

100% agreed! Other than Rogue 1, no Star Wars film beyond the original 3 had me so utterly hooked. Yes, it had filler (casino planet, I’m looking at you!) but my goodness, the highs were thrilling: Snoke getting his comeuppance and Luke’s utterly kick ass last stand being stand out moments. Johnson had the courage to make the film that he wanted to and the savaging he received for it is beyond unfair.

Go ahead. Dare.

WB: we have to be budget sensible, it won‘t be able to recoup that money.

Amazon: hey, we throw money at everything in order to suck up any IP we can get our hands on. And if it fails, so what? We‘re sucking up the next one, like a vacuum cleaner which you can buy if you click here.

Saoirse is always great casting. I hope that she joins Bond one day. My hype for the Beatles movies just went up.

Finally, a DC project potentially worth being excited about:

I would like to see a great take on her Ripley that way.

But the studio will want to pair her with some „hot“ young actors because the target audience is teenagers and young adults.

It would almost have to be that just based on the premise of where the character is. If she’s “tucked away” somewhere, they’re going to need a new crop of characters to bring the story to her.

I wouldn’t mind if they somehow found a way to incorporate this into an Alien: Romulus sequel. Weaver and Cailee Spaeny would be a great duo to lead the franchise and I think there would be some solid character moments that could be had for Ripley opposite David Jonsson’s Andy, given her spotty history with the android characters in the Alien universe.
