News on NO TIME TO DIE (no spoilers)

While that sounds like the answer a public relations department might hand out to the new kid in the director‘s chair - the least offensive and sure to be popular with the fans - from a filmmaker‘s point of view it makes perfect sense to value the wide range and the nuances the series has shown with its different leads.

Agree. The franchise as a whole has a lot to enjoy - and I like aspects from every era. I think the goal should be to create your own legacy, not to imitate the past, even though core traits should remain. And he basically strikes that tone in his answer.

I must say that I enjoy Fukunaga speaking fondly of all the Bond films. At least publicly, he is not quick to dismiss any films. Nor does he exhibit that annoying behavior of other name directors who evoked the feeling of being superior to this franchise.

He seems to be the rare kind of director who embraces any genre and still gives it his own particular spin.

All the problems of the last months were maybe a blessing in disguise.

I was quite encouraged by the bit he mentions earlier about being attracted to things because he hasn’t done anything like it before. I think that versatility and desire to embrace change will bode well for Bond.

Not really Bond 25 news but…

WAHOO!!!

It´s either a project he lined up for the time after Bond.

Or the script for Bond 25 is solid already and he wants to fill his spare time until production starts.

Firstly, Mendes and Logan did Penny Dreadful whilst making Skyfall (it’s third season being the reason P&W had to be the ones to apply Sony’s “notes’ to SPECTRE)

Also how much work on the series needs to be done whilst working on Bond really depends on which season they are aiming for. 2019/2020 season the script will need to nearly be finished and signed off to get a full cast/crew ready for pilot season in January, 2020/2021 season will need to be done in parallel with Bond 25 (again, Mendes and Logan did this with Penny Dreadful)

All of which could be moot if they’re aiming for cable or streaming as it’s home. Basically, we don’t have enough info to know if this has any relationship to his Bond 25 work.

I imagine Arbogast777’s point was we were desperate for Cary Fukunaga news, and had hoped it would be more Bond-centric versus tackling an eighties remake.

Perfectly fine and welcome - any news about Fukanaga now is “News on Bond 25”.

Exactly! Until any casting announcements, even the tiniest crumbs are welcome!

Posted this in the Kingsman thread, but thought it’d also be relevant for here…

Basically the Kingsman film taking Bond 25’s place is NOT Kingsman 3, but Kingsman: The Great Game which, and here’s where it gets Bond news related, calls for a much meatier role for Ralph Fiennes, as he is to this film what Colin Firth is to the core Kingsman series. Does this potentially mean less M in Bond 25?

Tbh, I don’t actually see this having much impact on Bond as Kingsman films have a much longer post-production than Bond, so Fiennes will have probably have finished filming on The Great Game long before Bond 25’s filming is finished.

I secretly hope that Fiennes´ availability will be limited to one or two shooting days, resulting in M only giving Bond the mission and reprimanding him at the end for hooking up with someone instead of getting back to headquarters asap.

‘Suppose it depends on what Fukunaga wants to do with him. If he wants M silent and just doing mime for 20 minutes during in the middle of the film, that’s what Fiennes will be doing.

A wes anderson Bond film for Bond 26? About old bond reconnecting with his illegitimate family?

Bond hanging out with his ‘brothers’ OSS117, Matt Helm, John Steed, Messrs Solo and Kuryakin sharing a table in the background with a Mr Phelps and his party of four, Blaise and Garvin in conversation with a man who looks like Richard Burton at another table, a cockney guy with hornrimmed glasses fetching a fresh round from the bar when, all of a sudden, the maitre d’ is punched through the glass doors followed by Matt Damon.

Who asks, somewhat awkwardly: ,Has anybody seen me before? Know my name?’

Just noticed on IMDb that all the return principles on Bond 25 have that movie on the roster apart from fiennes.

Now, hasn’t it been announced that he’s returning - I think so! But still, with his kingsman commitment could it be that Bond 25 won’t include M at all?

It’s true that fiennes doesn’t have kingsman on his roster either, so perhaps his reps simply don’t care for keeping t
His IMDb page up to date. But then kingsman the great game doesn’t have much of a page anyway - just a title, which could explain its absence on fiennes’ page. Whereas Bond 25 certainly has a page without fiennes inclusion.

What if Bond is M-less?

Probably not; it’s most likely that Ms role is so small in bond 25 that he could shoot all 3 Godfathers and still fit it in, but news is slow, so this chews the fat for now.

It’s IMDB, they’re notorious for wrong information because it is user moderated. John Cleese appeared as Q in Casino Royale according to IMDb in 2005.

You want depressing - read their trivia list on Sherlock. It can tell you how that model of gun wouldn’t shoot like that but also thinks November 5th is an intentional reference to the film (yes, film) V for Vendetta. Just sit and contemplate on just how many levels that is wrong.
