News on NO TIME TO DIE (no spoilers)

I’ve said it for years now, but I find it worth reiterating: Harris is an absolutely fantastic ambassador for the Bond brand. She’s well spoken, clearly enjoys being a part of the family, and is always game to (enthusiastically) answer Bond related questions even when it isn’t a Bond year. All of that on top of the fact that she’s a great actress and a wonderful Moneypenny. As fans we’re lucky to have her involved.

I feel that about all the recurring faces in Craig’s run. Harris, Wright, Fiennes, Kinnear and Whishaw are all incredible actors and clearly have a lot of love for what they do. All speak fondly of their time on the films, the roles they play and their predecessors.

I hope it’s this one from CR again:

She’s currently up for sale, btw. 600,000 quid, a bargain…

Very reasonable…
A beautiful boat though

Would help to make the finale in Spectre make more sense.

Fiennes and Whishaw are the two i rate most highly and would love to see return ad infinitum.

Wright is also a phenomenal actor, but Felix should be recast along with Bond imo.

I’d be all for that if we hadn’t already had a pivotal ‘love betrayal’ in Craig’s arc. And if Malek turns out to be Maddy’s puppet we’re doing TWINE all over again.

Certainly in such a long franchise we must except repetition. But i think i’d prefer to resist these ones for the time being.

Wright, yes. Felix should be an American reflection of Bond in many ways. I adore Wright as an actor, but each Bond should have their own Felix (he says with heavy hypocrisy, given I’d cite David Hedison as my favourite Felix, pre-Wright)

Not at all! I think it’s fine with David Hedison 's return since there’s such a gap.

So long as a Felix actor doesn’t stay on directly after a bond recasting. I’d find that somehow discombobulating; which makes no sense, since i’m fine with M, Q and Moneypenny

I’m in two minds with Moneypenny, generally I’d say recast with each Bond, but Naomie Harris has been brilliant in the role, and she is so much younger than Craig that I think she can easily transition into being Moneypenny for Bond 7 in the same way Maxwell did with Moore.

I’m afraid this is the new one:

In Bond’s defence, even if he still, somehow, had the boat, how does he describe it to the Mrs?

“Oh, this? The ex and I, you know her, the one Blofeld described as the big one, well, we bought it with the same money I got gambling at a luxury casino in the hope of getting dirt on your dads employers. The boat was for sailing round the world the last time I decided to find something better to do. We did, unfortunately, lose that money when we got to venice 'cause your dad nicked it as the ex was killing herself”

A little more reasonable possession for a man no longer drawing a salary, I’d say. Although perhaps he’s gainfully employed again by the time B25 picks up?

Right, and that’s the reason I really hope Madeleine isn’t killed. I’m not keen on Vesper (or Tracy) redux.

Too predictable too.

I guess if he has Maddy to go back to after this mission, then having that to lose is a very different and new angle for Craig et al to approach the character. New stakes.

Hard pass from me. There was already too much retconning in SPECTRE, this would be retconning the retcon. The time to do that would’ve been in the self same film, not the follow-up.

Killing a love interest in this day and age is an absolute minefield. If she dies there’ll be accusations of them evoking the ‘women in fridges’ trope.

Yeah I don’t want her evil or dead. But I think it might be fun if they had already separated by the time the film starts and we find out exactly why when their paths cross during this film. Did she have something she needed to go and do?
They could do worse than take Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol as their template: the previous film had Ethan happily married, but that opened with him without his wife and we found out during the course of it exactly what had happened- the audience wasn’t Ethan’s confidant. I’d rather like to open a film with James keeping big secrets from us. Maybe he hasn’t really retired at all! Perhaps he had to fake a break-up with her in order to keep her away as he was only sleeping as an agent and is luring someone in. After all, that beach shack is definitely going to get exploded, isn’t it?
