I couldn’t agree more. I’m always on board for trying new approaches. Newman had a lot of electronics in his scores, but always added lush symphonic touches as well.

The sound definitely needs some shaking up at this point, so this is welcome news.

Interesting!! I’m not familiar with Dan Romer’s work myself. I’ll have to do some investigating. As much as I wanted David Arnold back, I’m all for a new face to take on the scoring duties. This will be intriguing indeed. :sunglasses::+1:

Romer confirmed it on his Twitter account.

I only know his Maniac score, which was perfect for that series but definitely not indicative of how he’d do Bond, so I am intrigued to see what he does.

I’ve never heard any of Romer’s work but I am excited to see what he comes up with for Bond 25.

If you want to get an idea of Romer’s ability to use dramatic overtures and the orchestra to hit what we’ve come to expect, listen to his soundtrack for The Innocent Man for Netflix. I find him an intriguing choice.

Just finished listening to a couple of pieces from The Innocent Man and he is an intriguing choice. I wonder how or if he will incorporate the Bond theme into the film.

I certainly hope so. As a fan, I can’t imagine that Fukunaga wouldn’t include it.

Same. The film wouldn’t feel right without it but at this point it’s all speculation, for all we know Romer could have a very bombastic Bond score but I doubt it, we could be looking at an experimental score like Goldeneye.

I’m hoping we get an incorporation of the theme tune into the score, which we haven’t had a lot (aside from an instrumental track of the theme) since Quantum of Solace.

Interesting news. Though I’m a little disappointed we aren’t getting David Arnold back in the composer’s seat.

Perhaps not such a departure from Newman’s work…

But i’m very excited to hear a fresh take on the character and format. I loved Maniac and i’m pleased that Fukunaga’s got his collaborator with him; the simpatico will make the edit smoother and closer to the director’s vision.

I’m now twice as keen to check out Beasts of No Nation.

Honestly I’ve never heard of Dan Romer. And as much as I’d like Arnold back, I’ve been listening to Beasts of No Nation soundtrack and… it might work. Fascinating.

I’ve listened to a few tracks since hearing this news.

The track ā€œIf someone tries to chop it downā€ from the Maniac soundtrack sounds a bit like the PTS of Skyfall.

After Newman’s derivative Spectre score, this is great news. I’m slightly sad Arnold isn’t back for Craig’s swan-song, but oh well.

I liked both of Newman’s scores and think they suited Craig the best. I knew he wasn’t coming back, so I liked the idea of Arnold doing another. I’m okay with Romer though - I think if we’re going to hire directors we need to back them in.

With Newman, I loved the Skyfall score, but was disappointed by the Spectre one. I’m going to keep an open mind for Romer. Though, the non-Barry/Arnold scores have been hit or miss throughout the series.

LALD is fun. GE is an acquired taste but I love it.
