A child.
Ok, I thought that might be it, but the person appears to be standing in a hole in the rock, so it could have been Madeline as well. Good catch!
So, is that theoretically bringing into question whether the young girl is in fact a young Madeleine in a flashback if she is on set with the current female 007 in a shared scene? Lots of conjecture there, but intriguing nonetheless.
Remember Lea Seydoux is on that location as wellâŚ
Either that or Nomi was actually Bondâs predecessor as 007 and her whole story is a flashback
Maybe the character he meets in Jamaica played by Lynch in a wig is actually her daughter?
(Iâm joking: I always thought the flashback stuff was a tenuous rumour)
I am officially confused by what the child is doing there. We really donât know much about this film!
Exactly this.
âOur game is our game. But this? Women⌠childrenâŚâ
-Mr. White
I think youâre over-emphasizing the bereavement aspect. Lots of people have to face that in their lives, and itâs nearly always tragic and difficult, but that isnât the focus of this show. The rest of her life looks pretty peachy in comparison, yet she is made out to be a flawed, complicated person in a flawed, complicated age. PW-B says that itâs about a womanâs rage - but, really, a lot more people have a lot more to be angry about.
Thatâs totally intentional - itâs a commentary on the Instagram entitled selfy generation. The subtext is that we all crave attention - for people to care about us, but when everyoneâs so wrapped up in themselves no one can really care about anyone else.
When she finally finds someone that takes notice enough to spot the 4th wall moments, heâs ultimately heâs too wrapped up in god. Tragic!
Itâs not Shakespeare, but itâs pretty damned good.
I think youâre missing the point somewhat: sheâs not supposed to be a good person- she is self absorbed: thatâs the point. Look at the title of the show for a clue as to whether sheâs supposed to be flawless. Just because a show is about someone it doesnât mean theyâre being presented as a hero.
This guff about âothers have more to be angry aboutâ is utterly irrelevant: itâs not about them. Should James Bond not be upset next time a wife of his is murdered because heâs got a nice shiny car and some people eat out of food banks?
Yesterday it was recording artists, today itâs screenwriters. We really need that teaser poster and trailer to surface. Come on October 5th!!
Exactly.
Also, she is bereaved because she has caused it. Which takes away from any sympathy for her.
Is sympathy for the characters really a pre-requisite? The Scorsese version of Cape Fear is wall to wall horrible people (in a manner that makes you wonder if Scorsese had a wager for just how despicable he could make his ensemble), but itâs critically lauded and won many, many, awards.
Exactly. I think thereâs some confusion here about whether a show is saying a character must be perfect just because theyâre the lead. A show which insults its lead in its own title at that!
Good point. Malek focussing on genetic warfare targeting young children, potentially because of some genetic abnormality which has afflicted him throughout his life?
You say itâs a commentary on the Instagram era, but in the series I saw (1st) we donât see her waving her phone around and taking pictures or fiddling with her social media pages.
Poverty is hardly âguffâ (you seem to be a Tory, so perhaps youâre used to handwaving away such issues), and what Iâm taking issue with is also the paratext (interviews, think pieces etc) in which either PW-B or others are portrayed as a talisman for her gender and generation and that sheâs âsaying somethingâ about those things.
As a side-note, humour is subjective, obviously, but I was unable to detect any humour in the three hours I sat looking for it.
I do detect humour - but a lot is rather malicious, and that kind of shock humour might be trendy right now but a kind of Schadenfreude which I do not like either. Cheap shots, not all but too many.
I suspect that itâs just a case of âbring your kids to the officeâ day.
I mean, no one is speculating about a BB cameo just because sheâs on set, but as soon as thereâs a child barely visible in the background of a pictureâŚ
When did I say that?
I didnât say it was. Read again please. I was saying your argument that there are bigger things in the world means this is meaningless. Youâre on a James Bond forum. Context.
Personal insult. And wrong, of course.
Who are you blaming for that? The show?
And whose problem is that? I laughed several times; not hugely obviously as itâs not a gag-a-minute show, but no-one can help you if you donât find it funny.
