NO TIME TO DIE Spoilers (production pictures & videos)

If they get the casting right for Bond 7 I won’t really mind what they do. They haven’t put a foot wrong with any of the Bonds so far (yes, including Lazenby). It’s a special role, and it’s imperative it goes to the right person.

I would prefer the old school approach as well - have one film end with one Bond completing a mission, have the next one start with the new Bond on a new mission.

But in times like these, with all the “universe building” and “SHOCKING CLIFFHANGER”-thinking that movies have to be like tv shows, I would suspect that NO TIME TO DIE will send Craig out with a “surprise”.

For the genre, a proper ending IS a surprise. Given the so far self contained nature of Craig’s era, with a firm start, a full sequel, the acknowledgement of aging and time passing, this is a rare opportunity to give Bond the true ending he has never had but…

TBH I don’t think they’ll go for that, I suspect vague ending that could allow Bond 7 to be a continuation if you want it to be.

Funny, in my unwritten fanfic for Bond #7, I also included it – albeit after the pre-credits and with the Russians being a red herring, circling it back to Major Dexter-Smythe territory – though embarrassingly I haven’t read either OP or TMWTGG. Just requested them from the library!

I envy you getting to enjoy them for the first time. Happy reading!

Wo, back up, does that mean you havn’t read The Living Daylights or The Property of a Lady either?

If not, you’re in for a treat.

Correct. I’ve read the first 4, part of FRWL, and YOLT.

You should read them all. They are actually a lot of fun and quick reads.

A musical setback for No Time To Die?

We’re hearing a report that Dan Romer has “left the production” and will no longer be writing the score for No Time To Die.

As always with these things, be sure to take this with a grain of salt until we know more. Our source does seem credible, but of course you never know for sure until we get an official word.

If true, what great timing, considering the subject of today’s podcast

Edit - I see I have been beaten to it in the “no spoilers” section

Maybe his first ideas were rejected - and judging from his previous scores I would not be surprised that his work is too far from what a Bond score should sound like.

EON will want to avoid another Serra problem.

Probably. Or perhaps it’s Romer who walked away from the project? I can’t believe Eon hired him without expressing their expectations. I mean, 15 minutes on Spotify and you know how specific and completely non-Bondian type of composer Romer is. Either they loved his work and decided to give it a try or he agreed on delivering a full-orchestra type of score and failed.

At first composers present a layout, done on their synths.

Usually, they are given the chance to alter things and respond to the wishes uttered by director and producer. But maybe Romers´ ideas were so different that EON interceded and said: no, that might sound interesting. But on this last DC Bond we have to give the public what it wants. And these scenes demand something else.

They could have parted friends. Romer might have said: please hire someone else, this is just not my bag.

Of course, the whole thing might also be just a silly internet rumor and Romer is still the composer.

given that he also did the Far Cry 5 Soundtrack not that long ago which was decidedly non-synthy - I would suspect he is perfectly capable of delivering an orchestral/Bond soundtrack if need be - it might not have worked out and he might have had different ideas or another issue came up, but, he is a composer, theres no need to make out he cant do anything but twiddle presets on a synth.

Maybe Sting’s doing the theme and score
