Rank the Young Bond girls

Another week, another ranking. This time it’s the Young Bond girls.

So how do you rank them. My list goes like this:

  1. Amy Goodenough – BLOOD FEVER – (Charlie Higson) – A lot of personality and toughness to this spitfire. She will not give up no matter the situation. Amy may be a prisoner for most of this story, but she refuses to wallow in self-pity and is determined not to go down without a fight. There’s a lot to like about her.

  2. Anya Kalashnikova – RED NEMESIS – (Steve Cole) – Another great Young Bond girl. Living a non-glamorous life after her ballerina dream was destroyed, James Bond’s arrival and the circumstances the two of them find themselves in, combine to give Anya a new lease on life as she learns to let go of the past as she helps Bond unravel a mysterious conspiracy.

  3. Roan Power – BY ROYAL COMMAND – (Charlie Higson) – Ah, the Eton maid. She certainly was memorable. She and Bond have a good chemistry and it’s easy to see why Bond fell for her. Alas, their relationship, like most of Bond’s, was not to be.

  4. Kitty Drift – STRIKE LIGHTNING – (Steve Cole) – Another Young Bond girl with an endearing personality. This one even wears glasses! She also knows a lot about trains which comes in very handy during the story. Kitty is really likable and is a lot of fun, and it’s humorous how she likes Bond but finds Perry Mandeville like an annoying older brother.

  5. Jagua Solares – HEADS YOU DIE – (Steve Cole) – Here’s an intriguing first, the (Young) Bond girl is the daughter of the villain. Jagua not only has a lot of personality, but also she has a lot of emotions to go through in this story. One can’t help feel for her as she desperately tries to get her father, Audacto Solares, to see the error of his ways.

  6. Boudicca Pryce aka Boody – SHOOT TO KILL – (Steve Cole) – My least favorite of the Cole Young Bond girls, but that does not mean I don’t like her. I do. There is a lot to like about Boody, but I just happen to like the others more. She helps Bond a bit in this, particularly when it comes to cleaning up his new pea-shooter weapon, Queensmarsh.

  7. Kelly Kelly – DOUBLE OR DIE – (Charlie Higson) – Leader of the Monstrous Regiment, a ragtag group of London kids–and Red Kelly’s sister. Not very cultured, but very street smart, this is a different type of (Young) Bond girl.

  8. Wilder Lawless – SILVERFIN – (Charlie Higson) – Wilder doesn’t have much to do in this story, but she does give Bond his first kiss and her interactions with him are entertaining. And like Max Zorin, she is happiest in the saddle.

  9. Precious Stone – HURRICANE GOLD – (Charlie Higson) – Precious starts out as a spoiled brat and remains so for much of the story. It’s isn’t until she and Bond are trapped on the island of Lágrimas Negras that she starts to grow up and become more likable. She’s ok by the end, but her brattiness for the large part of the tale drops her to the bottom of this list.
