Rank the Young Bond henchmen

This week’s ranking deals with the Young Bond henchmen.

How do you rank them? My ranking is as follows:

  1. El Puño – HEADS YOU DIE – (Steve Cole) – A scary and unusual henchman in that he literally has a stone fist, which he wields very menacingly. He serves as a very threatening presence and has an appropriately gruesome death.

  2. Smiler – BLOOD FEVER – (Charlie Higson) – A unique looking henchmen with scars at either side of his mouth. He’s best in an early scene hunting down an unknown trespasser (James Bond) at Eton and later tying up Bond to be bitten by dozens (hundreds?) of mosquitoes and leading a raid on Vendetta Benetutti’s community.

  3. Ludwig Smith & Wolfgang Smith – DOUBLE OR DIE – (Charlie Higson) – Bickering bother hit team that are always entertaining. Ludwig has a great skeletal look and uses a great weapon–the Apache–that’s part revolver, part stiletto knife, part knuckle-duster, and all lethal. Wolfgang, on the other hand, gets the worst of it as bad stuff continually happens to him whenever the brothers encounter Bond. Great henchmen.

  4. Adam Elmhirst – RED NEMESIS – (Steve Cole) – An unlikely henchman who nevertheless is effectively bad. Has a good rapport with Bond.

  5. Herta Axmann – STRIKE LIGHTNING – (Steve Cole) – An enthusiastic lady who eagerly looks forward to helping out the Fatherland and being a leading woman in the Nazi movement. A nice character.

  6. Cleek MacSawney – SILVERFIN – (Charlie Higson) – A sadistic man who torments and abuses Randolph Hellebore’s freak scientific experiment swine. Not a likeable guy (in a good way). He too gets an appropriately gruesome death.

  7. Strabo – HURRICANE GOLD – (Charlie Higson) – A surly henchman who takes a bit of a liking to Bond after his team kidnaps him and his friends. Still, he doesn’t hesitate to try to kill Bond when the time calls for it. He, perhaps, gets the most gruesome death of all.

  8. Vladimir Wrangel – BY ROYAL COMMAND – (Charlie Higson) – Another henchman who has no problem trying to eliminate a kid. He’s threatening, but there’s not a lot about him so I don’t find him as interesting as the ones above him.

  9. George Barron – SHOOT TO KILL – (Steve Cole) – I find Barron very similar to Wrangel, just slightly less threatening/evil.

So how do you rank the Young Bond henchmen?
