But isn’t that entirely for people who read the books? Almost all people who know Bond is purely the films, I don’t see the stuff EON cut away from start selling well.
Yes. I do have that little faith in people.

And him hating Tea and telling that it’s the reason for the downfall of the British Empire and calling it mud.
What I’d like to see was him being a know it all guy, like that in Moonraker when he’s telling Gala Brand about how Flowers got hurt when they’re picked and putting the flower that Gala picked in his lapel, I really liked that scene in the book.
Also him giving tip to the waiters who served his foods well.
I attribute all those old-school vibes to Mendes, not Craig and BB/MW. Although he did win a DB5 in CR, (maybe not the DB5) I blame Mendes for the Craig era retro touches. I suspect the Bond of CR and QOS was perfectly fine living in the modern world.
It’s a good point, however there was scope to expand given the blank canvass a reboot provides. After a baptism of fire he settles in to a more established personality, and the seed was planted with the DB5 win against Dimitrios. Craig’s Bond could be viewed as someone who learned to live without gadgets and modern trimmings most of the time - case in point his apartment in SPECTRE.
I agree. Such a sequence wouldn’t have to be very long, but seeing Bond’s morning routine would be excellent. Waking, having his hot/cold shower, having breakfast, driving to MI6, entering his office, greeting his secretary, then being called to see M. It’s a huge part of the novels and we haven’t seen it translated before. It could even be the way of introducing the new Bond.
Kinnear equally in the dark about where Bond is going next (he’s on a press tour for Alex Garland’s, rather brilliant, Men so expect him to be asked ALOT in regards to his Bond future)
Kinnear is a fantastic actor, totally underused as Tanner.
I hope the next era will bring in new actors which will get only two or three short scenes: beginning, middle, end.
I don’t have anything against the Craig era cast, but I’m after a complete overhaul if possible, regardless of a reboot wiping the slate clean. I think Kinnear and Harris have a fair idea that’s more likely too.
I think him being the god son of Judi Dench is the only reason they got him.
Whishaw is certain of they’ll do a full cast overhaul. given how much the profiles of the three of them have risen since starting on Bond, the cost of them all back would be colossal so I’d be inclined to agree and that’s BEFORE they get to Fiennes.
Tobias Menzies really got the shaft after CR. He could have grown nicely into that Tanner/Chief of Staff role. I really didn’t see the need to make the change to Tanner.
Mitchell in QOS should’ve been Villers.
Wasn’t that the original plan? Tobias Menzies was unavailable and a new character was created.
I think it would have been really hard to pull off Villiers being the traitor in QoS after being the guy who threw up at the site of a body in CR. You have to admit we would have all been rolling our eyes at it. If they planned ahead a little bit and portrayed him differently in CR then yes, that would have made for a fun little twist.
Strongly agree. To paraphrase Cubby; “When in doubt go back to Fleming.”
As Jim’s death matches show, there’s still quite a lot left to adapt. And honestly, I would be happy continuing the direction the series is going in terms of fantasy, just without the heavy emotional drama. A movie consistently along the lines of NTTD’s Cuba sequence would be just about perfect.
Urgh
Even if two years from now, it’d still be less than the MGM breaks…god that’s depressing
Reinvention… What a time-waster.
Two years before filming ever begins? A year to shoot and post-production. So a late 2025 release date at the earliest? Thank God we’ll have had two Mission Impossible movies to tide us over until then.
