Goodbye, Annie.

This guy made probably every poster I ever loved since my childhood…Star Wars, Indy, Blade Runner, Rambo, The Thing, Big Trouble in little China, Crocodile Dundee, Cutthroat Island, Shawshank and even Silverado and King´s The Dark Tower. The list seems endless… :black_heart: :black_heart: :black_heart:

I’ve been feeling melancholy for a while. The acceptance that the past no longer exists. It’s just a memory and we’re left with the present day. I’m not terribly keen about the way things are done now, but that’s where we are. I’m trying to remind myself of the lyric “glorify the past when the future dries up”. I do believe in being forward looking and hopeful for the future, but the icons of yesteryear sure did make a strong impression that’s hard to match. Drew Struzan was one of those icons. RIP.

I feel the same way.

And it’s especially troubling since so many problems could be avoided or solved since we know the solutions. Unfortunately, these days it seems that too many think it’s fun to choose chaos.

I won’t claim I immediately recalled her when I read this. But she was indeed one of the most familiar tv faces of her era and continued working for decades in various guest roles. A trouper from the army of thespians that make the showbiz world go around.

EDIT: @Binder beat me to it.

What a weird coincidence. Just last night we were watching a Babylon 5 episode with June Lockhart in a guest-starring role. I mentioned to my husband that I remember her from Lost in Space, and I found it odd she and Bill Mumy didn’t share any scenes in this episode.

As an aside, I watched Ari Aster’s Midsommar only recently (loved it) but had no idea that Andrésen was the elderly man at the Pagan ceremony. Possibly how he would have wanted it.

D.M. Dmitri Mishkin for us Bond fans. But also well-remembered in the French-speaking world for superb performances in excellent films such as L’amour braque (opposite Sophie Marceau), Nikita and Jeanne d’Arc (aka “The Messenger”).

Well, damn. 102 is a great run but this is still sad to hear. Senensky was a guest on several episodes of the Enterprise Incidents podcast, discussing the Star Trek episodes he directed, and he was always charming and funny, with a phenomenal memory of things that happened so many years ago, great explanations for why things were done as they were and honest takes on what worked and what didn’t. Every time, I came away thinking “there’s no way the voice I just heard and the brain behind it belong to a centenarian.” It’s always a joy to hear key figures in things I grew up on treat them as more than “just a job,” sharing oral histories and insider anecdotes before they’re lost forever.

I’m grateful for what he left us, and that he enjoyed a sharp mind and full life right up to the end. RIP

RIP, Lee. Die Another Day has its detractors but I have fond memories of that film and the period it was released.
