I actually think this could be interesting. The twist here seems to be Malek’s character just cannot become the killing machine, so he’s got to work with what he knows and think of ways to manoeuvre his target into places/positions/situations where his abilities can hit them. It’s not hugely innovative, but at least not pretending the trio of training, funds and false identity could achieve everything a furious widower sets his sights on.
Downside is, Malek as computer expert is Mr Robot terrain, not at all inspired casting. I’d have preferred him in a part like Dustin Hoffman/Babe Levy in MARATHON MAN instead of hauling a laptop backpack around.
