This is not a confession, nor is it ‘news’ as such, more a piece of cineaste hilarity - with a very minor Bond angle through Connery - that I’d like to share here. We haven’t got a thread dedicated to such stuff, so that’s now fixed. Feel free to add your own oddities…
A big piece of timber fell on Feodor. ‘I’m 80 years old,’ he said, ‘I don’t mind dying. Was the take good?
I saw this Reel on Facebook of a parody of Connery and Moore from Spittin Image. I never saw this before and could not find this video on YouTube. Hopefully, the link works for people as I got a good laugh out of this.
Finally, one more nugget I came across tonight but don’t remember at all. 1987 TV Special on the 25th Anniversary of James Bond… starring Roger Moore even though Timothy Dalton was the current Bond. Should we expect Daniel Craig to host an anniversary show soon?
Can’t find this as an isolated clip, so I can only link to a video of the entire show. It is set to start at 19:20, running for about 10 minutes, but if you’re in for some really absurd stuff – Germany’s weirdest comedy show of the 1970s, Klimbim – you might as well watch the whole thing. Doesn’t matter if you don’t understand a word. The part that matters has Curd Jürgens as guest star in a sketch in which he plays a stunt double for actor Charles Connert in the new Bond movie “James Bond’s Revenge” who gets all the severe beatings and is humiliated by the director. This one’s from 1973 (!), when Jürgens was Germany’s biggest movie star, a larger than life figure (earned him an invisible cameo in Rush). The joke back in the day was that he was the one who was supposed to play the big star who should have had a stunt double… necessary explanation: in the mock-up interview part at the end, he is deliberately mistaken for his namesake German/Austrian singer Udo Jürgens
