I’m guessing everything will be delayed. But a guess is not a firm answer…
Was expecting and hoping for better from Zimmer. A very derivative gunbarrel score.
I’ll take what we got from Kamen or Serra any day of the week. If you’re going to do it, make it your own.
Gunna take a stab at how the gunbarrel sequence goes down since we have some extra time on our hands. The dots will go across the screen and the iris opens up on nothing, just white. The camera will pan like it usually does and center on Bond with his back to the camera, like in the bathroom in Casino Royale. He’s going to spin and fire but this time he’s going to be in a tuxedo (the one we see on the album cover for Zimmer’s score), representing Daniel having come full circle. That’s my guess.
I imagine Zimmer was working within certain guidelines. I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest if the Bond team wanted the same musical introduction as SPECTRE, and that was non negotiable. I did like Marr’s segment, which I imagine will play when the dots move across the screen.
Not that I disagree, but why would they do that? Why would someone hire an established composer, one of the most famous and talented, who has his own style, and limit him with guidelines?
Eric Serra’s tank chase was re-scored by John Altman, and Dan Romer left NTTD due to creative differences. There’s an element of control being exerted. In terms of the Craig era, and specifically the SPECTRE/NTTD gunbarrel sequences, perhaps establishing some form of musical continuity?
Perhaps. But still, Zimmer is no Romer (whose employment was a ridiculous idea, by the way). Curious.
If I remember right , during Skyfall the producers had some issues with Newman that time too
Which issues?
The ones he once read on a forum somewhere?

Shoutout for a Madame Secretary-reference!
Was going to use a West Wing reference, but Sorkin’s works aren’t gif friendly.
Or artistic integrity.
Watched the bridge attack clip that aired on the Tonight Show last night. Assuming the music is the Zimmer score, and being a fan of his other work, I liked it. I don’t want to post the clip to this thread since some may consider it spoiler-ish, but for those who have seen it, what do y’all think?
Here´s the clip, fast forward through the inevitable Jimmy Fallon-overenthusiasm:
As for Zimmer´s score in this clip: I am disappointed. It´s just the same sound effects/noise he uses so often. In fact, there are tracks on “Dunkirk” which are hugely similar.
I’m not a fan of it personally. It sounds like most of his work for the past decade+ with an overemphasis on droning textures and monotonous percussion. It’s like Zimmer has written a scoring program and everything that comes out of his stable of composers gets processed through that program to achieve his “sound.” I realize it’s only a small snippet in the video but I hope melodies are in there somewhere, too.
After the Gun Barrel track I was hoping that Zimmer would have emulated Barry´s style, making it (in EON´s words) one of the best Bond scores ever.
Well, one snippet should not discourage me, of course. Then again… the “Dunkirk”-similarity is noted by other score fans on film score message boards as well.
Pretty boring cue for a big moment/stunt in the film.
I thought the same… odd.
What I said on this on a different thread.
