When do you expect an announcement on BOND 26?

If it were true - multiple films?

Weird. We only get one or two per decade.

And by “James Bond films” they mean a film adaptations of the Double or Nothing series with the Q spinoff also being announced.

potentially within the next few months

Sad when imminent now means “potentially within the next few months.”

Rumors.

Just like we were told to expect an imminent announcement that that one guy (forgotten his name) had already been cast as Bond several months ago.

And then there will be a new “announcement” that will be teased sometime next year.

Ajay was asked and gave an opinion. And these rags are basically doing a cut and paste.

I would not consider it very likely that they will overshadow their Thalberg award with a Bond announcement.

Same article was in the Times so I guess it’s just doing the rounds. Some of the one I read sounded plausible but the Bollinger ‘69 is staying on ice for now🤷‍♀️

Based on our poll, a good number of CBn’ers guess, and the key word here is guess, that there could be news of some sort between now and early period of 2025. That’s all we have right now. Good thing Jim has his deathmatches up and running again while the wait continues to drag on. It could be a while.

To quote Christmas Jones:

“Do you wanna put that in English for those of us who don’t speak spy?”

It means money is money. Its value isn’t affected by where it came from. It’s value and your opinion of its source can be separate :+1:

Well well well. Hopefully the board is being set and the pieces start to move.

Qatar being a huge sponsor of Hamas should make it a no go for BB.

If there’s no other way to finance that project maybe she could go to her own bank account.

Or admit that no one but Craig wants this film made.

How many good, excellent, fantastic productions of Othello are there already? And how much does the story profit from an Iraq war setting, if at all?

If this was really such a great idea there should be no shortage of takers. Evidently, that’s not the case. I could have seen such a production taking off around 2010, a kind of Shakespeare-enhanced THE GREEN ZONE. But today it seems just superfluous, a bizarre twist to pimp up the visuals for modern audiences. Unnecessary.

If we were to apply the same standard consistently, we would have to ban filming in a large number of countries, including many in the West, with their history of conflict, human rights abuses and controversial political positions which have resulted in significant civilian casualties.

Art and entertainment should have the freedom to transcend borders and not be bound by political litmus tests.

Singling out Qatar without applying the same scrutiny to other countries doesn’t work well.

So, what if Putin wants to fund Bond films? No problem at all where money comes from? Especially if there are lots of other and better ways to get funding for films?

And don’t think for a second that big money will not come with demands, especially image-washing from governments which already did that successfully with a certain soccer world tournament.

The notion that Putin would finance a Bond film is such an edge case scenario that I’m not sure it holds much merit for discussions.

That being said if Russians were to fund a Bond movie , I wouldn’t have any issue watching it. There’s a limit to which they can glorify a sitting regime especially in a Bond film.

Remember when they were filming Skyfall and India wanted Daniel Craig as the brand ambassador for indian Railways and they walked.

The comparison with the FIFA tournament doesn’t hold much weight either. They did the best they can, they really pulled off one of the better tournaments in recent history regardless of what western journalists had to say about it. I’ve attended the Qatar World Cup and it was amazing .

It’s no wonder that big money can buy everything.

But when you enjoy something which was made possible by suppressing human rights you should at least be aware of that ugly and despicable treatment of powerless people (like all those underpaid and horribly treated workers who built the soccer stadiums by the way) or the criminalization of homosexuality.

Of course, „only dealing with nice people“ will decrease the chances to fund major business like a Bond film.

But if someone decides to go into business with nations which openly oppose human rights - doesn‘t one need to draw the line there?

BB does not need to do this. She chooses to do it.
