Who do you want for Bond 7?

I’ll say one thing for ya, Josh - you have a good publicist.

Well, he surely does not look like Bond. So he‘s got that going for him.

He can play Q when that character takes over as the lead of the “James Bond” franchise.

There’s also been talks in the press about a Scottish fella named Stuart Martin. Of course, just rumours. But I must say, he looks the part. I can see it

He just turned 39 which means by the time Bond 26 starts filming he’ll be in his 70’s.

Way too old.

I suggested him way back in May 2020.

A certain Brosnan vibe, me thinks.

Yeah. I agree.

And again, I can see this guy as James Bond.

So, here are some links…

It all means nothing, of course. But in the absence of meaty other rumours…

Given the low profile of Martin and his age it would have to mean:

a) Eon got a little known guy past Amazon and

b) production should start within the year.

I don’t think anybody watching the Bond situation at the moment would consider either very likely.

Given the sources, my knee-jerk reaction would normally be that it’s all fake.
But I somehow can’t help getting the feeling that there might be more to it.

I got swept up in the ATJ talk in the same way. I think Martin would be a good choice but it does seem like they’re not interested in making Bond movies for a while, and thus aren’t even looking for actors. But…we’ll see.

Bigger question is what do we find out first, the identity of Bond #7 or Q #5?

Rupert Friend is probably too old to play Bond now at this point, but Q is a less-defined character in the Bond mythos. Maybe they could bring Friend in to play what would have been his version of “Bond” after being given the Q code name.

Whoever gets the job has to have screen presence. An interview with Roger from the Moonraker set has him explaining the way he and Sean played the character. This line sticks out to me, and it’s very true:

“These are not performances playing Bond, it’s a projection of one’s own personality or a personality you’ve made up. He’s a personality, it’s not an acting performance in the same sense as Lear.”

I agree. Bond has and must only have so few traits, the actor has to bring something else to interest us.

That‘s why the peeling back the layers approach can only end up embarassing.

This is Gold!

Henry Cavil’s James Bond audition has apparently leaked.

Here’s Rupert Friend

Sam Worthington

Anthony Starr

Interesting that the story we’ve always heard is that it came down to Cavill and Craig. IMO Cavill’s easily the weakest of the lot, here. And they all look like the “before” pictures in an ad for a hair care product.

Most of the taped auditions do. Person to person auditions (I say person, it’s always a group) always feels more comfortable than audition tapes.

I must say they are all terrible: too one-note, voice too high, too mate-I-don’t-give-a-damn and too bland.

Craig had it easy then.
