Alex Rider TV Series in the Works

There’s a Le Carre style paranoia vibe to this so far (just starting ep 4) that I’m really digging!

31 minutes into part 4 - Eleventh Hour seemingly loving their new multi-series lead meeting their other one. The REALLY play it as a huge moment.

Horowitz seems optimistic about a third season.

Hope it happens, I’m really enjoying season 2 so far (I, alas, did not have the time to burn through all of it in a day like I did season 1)

Glad to hear season 2 is enjoyable so far!

These books were written when I was in the prime age to be receptive to them, so they played a big part in my childhood. Eagle Strike was one of my favorites so I’m really looking forward to starting season 2.

I’m curious which book will be adapted for season 3. I have to think it will be Scorpia based on what they’re clearly building towards.

2 does go deeper into Scorpia - but Horowitz mentioned on Twitter that the book choices are more based on what they can do safely with Covid restrictions than anything, it was judged that Skeleton Key couldn’t be done in those conditions so it was skipped.

Interesting. Skeleton Key is probably the most forgettable of the series anyway, so I hope they decide to skip it. Sorcpia and Ark Angel would be incredible to see on screen.

I’m two episodes in, brilliant so far! I’m hip deep in great espionage programs of late. First NTTD, then Condor season 2, now Alex Rider season 2, and The King’s Man later this month. It’s like 2015 all over again.

Very good series, my littlest loved it, as did the older one, he however pointed out, they need to make series 3 very quickly or recast, as he’s like nearly 30… I laughed

Finished season 2 today, fracking brilliant!!! Bring on season 3! Wonder who they’ll cast for The Widow. And poor Toby Stevens, between this and DAD, he’ll never climb aboard an airplane again.

Finished season 2…I didn’t think much of it. The first 3 episodes absolutely crawled along. Too much time spent on that smoking mirror hacker nonsense.

It picked up a bit towards the end but overall a poor adaptation from Guy Burt this time round. I really wish they included the exciting bike chase in Amsterdam from the novels.

I’m looking forward to seeing what the next series is going to be like- a full on Scorpia storyline by the looks of it, Alex off to Italy perhaps?

I haven’t watched season 2 yet but it’s disappointing to hear they didn’t include one of the highlights of the book. The bike chase in Eagle Strike is as iconic as the makeshift snowboard chase in Point Blanc.

It’s almost like a tv series can’t shut down bits of Amsterdam during a global pandemic…

Amazingly, I can be disappointed by the omission and still understand the reason for it. I contain multitudes

Oh, I wasn’t judging, I too missed that bike chase, but given the previous book had to be skipped entirely, I kinda felt I was getting off lucky just missing a (very good) set piece .

True, true. I was very impressed that they were able to get the series out so quickly despite the world going to the hell. I should finally get around to watching it this weekend.

Watched episode 1 last night. The Cornwall segment was excellently adapted.

One thing I’m very pleased they are exploring in the series is the traumatic repercussions of these experiences on Alex. It’s fitting and necessary in this darker adaptation of the books with an older target audience.

It’s not something I would have liked in reading the books at 12 years old, as I took inspiration from Alex’s resilience at the time, but as an adult it’s the aspect of the “teen spy” concept I find most interesting and important, especially with the mental health crisis much of the world is facing.

Horowitz has said that the tone is very intentionally older, because the “young adults” who read those books when they came out are now actually adults.

Horowitz says there’ll be news “soon”

Alex Rider season 3 accidentally confirmed by the new studio saying what’s about to shoot there…

I seem to recall season 2’s announcement coming from a call for “supporting artists”

EDIT MONTHS LATER BECAUSE THREE IN A ROW MEANS I CANT ADD A NEW POST

A new Alex Rider book was published last month, Nightshade Revenge. The book is dedicated to Guy Burt, the creator of the TV series as a thank you for bringing the character to life.
