I want to see this version now!
No, no, no. If it has to be a German actor for a 1976 Stamper, it has to be Raimund Harmstorf.
He’s a legend for his potato scene as the “Sea Wolf” in Germany. One of the great missed opportunities, he would have made one of those great “German bad guys” back in his day. A perfect Erich Kriegler, he would have been much more memorable.
I’m certain that he was on Eon’s radar at a certain point. Thing is, he never really had the acting chops (my fellow German members might prove me wrong) for a main Bond villain, but himself, he never would have accepted a role as just a henchman…
THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN (1965)
Nick Nicholson – James MacArthur
Mary Goodnight – Julie Christie
Hendriks – Charles Bronson
Francisco Scaramanga – Jack Palance
I only know him from a couple of Bud Spencer movies (Bulldozer, The Satellite Kid and one, or two more).
I was a huge Bud Spencer/Terence Hill fan back in those days.
Ok, I’m lying…I mean: I am STILL a huge Bud Spencer/Terence Hill fan.
I first bought all the movies on dvd and later on blu ray most of them are the German versions, because they are in the best quality.
Spencer against Harmstorf in They call him Buldozer (For some strange reason “Mücke” in Germany) is a classic!
Edit: I’m not sure, but was he also in one of the many versions of “The Call of the Wild”?
The World Is Not Enough (1978)
James Bond: Roger Moore
Christmas Jones: Hazel Spears
Elektra King: Marthe Keller
Renard: Keir Dullea
General Gogol (in place of Zukovsky): Walter Gotell
Sir Robert King: Kenneth Connor

Very daring, but the character would have to be complete different from the Mary we know
Could work. The Mary in the book is very different to the one in the film.
True. I could also see Julie Christie doing the Tiffany Case of the novel. I can hear her saying: “It reads better than it lives.”
True. I wouldn’t cast her (or at least expect her to be willing to be cast) as the Mary Goodnight from the film. As theSpectre said, the novel Mary is pretty different than the film version and, as a result, I think it is more conducive to her being cast in the novel version–as well as to her being more willing to sign on for it.
